Planet Positive | Community social service in building infrastructure for the agricultural sector

Wednesday October 26, 20022, I had the opportunity to be directly involved in gotong royong activities in the construction of irrigation canals in Matang Munje village, Syamtalira Aron sub-district, North Aceh district.

My involvement is as a volunteer to provide special technical assistance in the implementation of irrigation canal construction work which will function to distribute water throughout the rice fields in the village.

Technical assistance needs to be done to ensure the quality of development, considering that the current work system is implementing a system of social service or gotong royong, where all the workers involved are local farmers and no one has technical skills, therefore there needs to be assistance directly in order to produce and ensure the quality and quality of work in accordance with the applicable technical provisions.

The agricultural sector is one of the main factors in supporting the economy of the Indonesian people, and even in almost all rural villages, there are more than 90% of residents who work as farmers or work in the agricultural sector and generally work as rice farmers.

However, the unfortunate thing is the limited irrigation infrastructure needed by village farmers, thus requiring village farmers to carry out social service activities or mutual cooperation to build irrigation canals, so that the water needs for their rice plants are fulfilled.

Social service or gotong royong is an activity that is carried out jointly by a group of people and is voluntary without expecting a reward or wage from the work with the aim of speeding up and making it easier to complete a job and of course beneficial for many people.
