Why do we power up?

In life we all do things for different reasons. The same goes for Steemit.

I might be taking part on the Steemit platform because I like writing and I LOVE supporting and educating others. You might do it because you NEED to make a few extra cents.

In the end we all crave to have a PURPOSE in life.

To have a purpose is to have a reason. If you know what is your purpose you will know what makes you happy. In other words, we can say to discover your purpose in life is to follow your journey of joy.

Is that not what drives us to power up?

It for sure drives me as I LOVE doing things with a purpose behind it. Those things which makes me happy.

What is your purpose for powering up?

Is it your need?

We all have three basic needs in life. Many of us base our power up on these three needs.

  1. Our basic needs like food, water and a roof over our heads
  2. Our psychological needs like accomplishment
  3. Our self-fulfilment needs like achieving in goals

Is it your devotion?

Devotion is the act of giving and is often compare to our religion but devotion is actually far more than that. It is also having a devotion to ourselves.

1. What is our love for doing it?
2. How much are you willing to do?
3. How often will we do it?

Is it because you have to?

There are ample of posts on Steemit telling us that we have to power up.

▲If you want to increases the value of your vote you have to power up

▲If you want to earn better curation rewards you have to power up

▲If you want to be in a club you have to power up

▲If you want to invest in your Steemit future you have to power up

▲If want to become a committed holder of the STEEM coin you have to power up

▲If you want to help your fellow Steemians you have to power up

▲ If you want to swim with the dolphins you have to power up

Let's tick those boxes!

ReasonMeYou
The need to power upYesYes/No
The devotion to power upYesYes/No
You have to power upYesYes/No

Your reason to power up might be all of the above or it might be something totally different. If it differs let me know as I would love to know about it.

In the end what matters is that we power up our STEEM to help each other by securing the growth of Steemit.

If you want to increases the value of your vote you have to power up

Indeed I want to increase the value of my votes.
But I vote on even if my voting power is down.
Therefore I don't like to agree to your conclusion "you have to power up" despite the fact that I agree with your premisse "you want to increase the value of your vote"

So let's see if the conclusion is really bound to this premisse.

For me it's a kind of game: earning power and passing it along by voting. The real thing in my opinion is to write and to read - that is: to go on in evolving my mind while taking part on the evolving of others (in so far they want it).

In this view I would like to give my votes much more differentiated as I can while only having 1 or 2 ct. But this is no need for me it is only a small wish.

My conclusion now is:
If I want to increase my voting power (for my wish to give differentiated amounts) then - in a logical sense - I really have to power up and not to power down.
Insofar I agree with your above conclusion in this logical sense.
But since there is no need for me on the fulfilling of the premisse I am glad for being able to say: I can make power ups for the given purpose but I don't have to stand to this purpose (the voting) because I am able to better express my appreciations in writing than in voting at all.
That's one of the reasons I gave up to tag my postst with "club100" despite the fact I power up all that I gain.

Umh! You don't fail me in your replies. That's for sure! (•ิ‿•ิ)

I am a blogger not an investor

This take me back to "Is Steemit fair?". I should add, "write as a blogger and not as an investor"

Thank you, I appreciate your input of reading, analyzing and reply!

I think a lot of us under estimate the importance and the benefits of power up.

You've made a lovely post, thank you for sharing

Ah ha! You are so right!
"We underestimate the importance and the benefits of power up!"
I cannot put it in better words!
Thank you for reading my post and for your engagement.
It is appreciated! ☕

Let's for a moment assume that I am one of those who underestimate the mentioned importance and benefits:
This is because I don't see what you mean?
Which is the importance, what are the benefits?
For whom would the benefits be, whose goals would be served? Mine???

Good discussion, dear. It adds to my motivation to keep doing 100% power-ups from every reward I receive. I like your last quote.

I don’t like power up… I LOVE power up!
