Steemit Engagement Challenge S3-W4: The Role of the Various Genders”
Gender, gender inequality, this has been a great issue in the world today. This job is only for Men and women can't do this..or that's the work of a woman, men who do it are shameless.
Well, these have been what we see in the world today. Gender discrimination has been very rampant in the world and in some culture it is very significant. In most African countries, women are restricted from doing many things that men are allowed to do, some even restrict women's education.
All men are born free and equal in rights.”—Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, adopted by France’s National Assembly in 1789
Yes, we have all heard the above statement and most of us agree with it, but is it really how it is today?
Does gender play a role in our everyday life?
Gender role in our daily lives
Yes, gender plays important roles in our daily lives. Gender roles include how a Man or a Woman is expected to speak, act, dress and conduct themselves.
Generally, the Men are expected to be strong and bold while the females are expected kind and accommodating...and so on.
The men are given tasks that require more physical strength and energy while the females are regarded as the weaker vessels.
Also there are certain jobs or professions that are views as for only men or for only women.
Every culture, ethnic group and society has different gender role, this differs from one place to another or one group to another.
How does the role or function in your country differ from gender to gender?
Roles of the various genders in Nigeria
In my country Nigeria, the different gender has their own roles in the society. In the family setting, the male gender is expected to take up responsibilities in the family such as providing for the needs of his family members. He is regarded as the head of the family and is held liable for any act of his family whether good or bad.
The female gender is expected to support her husband and help train up the children. She must also show respect for her husband and obey him.
Here it is believed that the women should do the house chores such as doing the dishes and cooking for the family.
In human rights, both male and female has the same human right in my country, right to education, work, life, Privacy etc.
A woman has the right to abide by the rules of the country and be protected by it's laws, it wasn't like his before but we are happy that we now have equal rights.
Is it the same for other countries?
Gender role for other countries
In most African countries, women do not have much freedom as they do in my country. Some of them are denied education and also in some countries the faces of the women must not be seen.
I've also heard that in India men's education are held in high regard than that of the women.
What about Steemit?
Gender role in steemit
I appreciate the setting in steemit, here everyone is treated fairly, I think there is no gender discrimination in the platform. Just like men, the women are given equal responsibilities, they can voice out their opinions, they are given responsibilities such as the community curation work and also to be community leaders.
The platform is an open place to work on both male and females....
I personally appreciate when all members of each gender is treated fairly and with no discrimination. Everyone should have equal human right no matter the gender they belong to.

Hola mi princesa bella, me gustó el enfoque que le diste al tema, en vista, de que es muy extenso, debido a la cultura de los diferentes países... Éxito en el concurso...
Thank you my dear friend for your appreciation.
I feel like life is unfair when men think they are more superior to women.
Women have gone through alot because of gender discrimination but i am glad we are coming out strong.
Thanks for sharing.
All the best!
Thankfully the world's eye is opening to the importance of women among men. Thank you my friend for your visit and support. Hopefully everything will be stabilized
You nailed it. The dress code is one thing that differentiates male and female in our country. By default, the man is the chief bread winner whilst the woman is expected to take of the cooking, laundry and taking care of the children.
Surely the education and political system in Nigeria offers level playing ground for both genders.
Goodluck!!
It's good that Nigeria doesn't have much gender discrimination.
There are clear differences in gender enterally and not just in one country. Thank you for your visit and support
