Guiding Alumni who have lost access to their accounts

in STEEM FOR BETTERLIFElast month (edited)

The increasingly rapid development of technology has implications for human civilization, it must be acknowledged that Steemit as a blockchain-based social media is a product of technological developments that were introduced to the public in 2016.

User growth continues to increase over time since it was first released and even now, quite a few of them choose to stop, leave and move to a similar platform, for consistent users, they will continue to be active so that they realize the existence of Steem as an asset that needs to be preserved as part of from investment.

About 2 months ago, one of the alumni lost access to his account because the cellphone used to register and operate as the main device for writing posts was damaged. His Android operating system went down and couldn't be repaired.

Actually, this is an important lesson that every user must pay attention to, they must ensure that the PDF copy of the Steemit account is stored in a safe place, can be reached when needed and cannot be easily accessed by the public.
PDF copies are confidential and should be maintained as important assets.

The importance for newcomers in completing achievements is a part that must be passed, they will learn many things about the Steem ecosystem, and basic guidelines for platform users. Achievement 2 for example, is where the user will understand the importance of each key obtained on the PDF copy.

By completing this task they will understand that each key has its own function, so they can be used wisely according to their needs.

In this case, muh4zir (new account) has completed achievement 2, at that time he has saved a copy of his PDF to Google Drive, even though being able to upload PDF files to the drive requires internet services such as WiFi, unless he changes the settings of his mobile device so that it can be done using a cellular network.

He didn't realize that the uploaded file failed, so when his cellphone was damaged and he replaced it with a new one, he realized that there were no files stored in the Google Cloud. I also recommended he register a new account and explained in his post that his old account (muhaz1r) had lost access.

This is an important lesson for him and for anyone on this platform to ensure that a PDF copy of your account is saved. You can print it offline, save it in a trusted online storage, or send a PDF copy to email so that it can be accessed whenever needed, even if the device is damaged. though.

What you need to pay attention to is the email used to register for an online storage account and the password, but I never recommend offline storage on offline drives such as HDD, SSD or Flash Disk because it carries quite a high risk.

This was a blow to him, even though at first he gave up, I continued to motivate him to continue being active as usual. What he needed to do was not regret what happened, but make it an important experience in the future.

Enthusiasm, consistency and hard work will reap maximum results, hopefully this experience will not happen to other users, either losing access or losing assets due to saving the Private Active Key in the browser automatically.

It's good that you once again emphasise the importance of the backup. A real-life example like this is a good illustration of what can happen...

or send a PDF copy to email

I would not recommend this. Sending unencrypted emails is not a secure method.
I would only recommend offline storage (e.g. printing) or encrypted storage. Only an encrypted version of the file should be saved on Google Drive.
But in the end, of course, everyone has to decide for themselves, probably also in consideration of the amounts held on the account.

Exactly as you said, I never even save it in mail, maybe now because I change my account password every 2 weeks, I choose to save it in iCloud. I don't know if this will be completely safe.

Thank you for providing valuable insight on this, it should be a reference for other users and important input for me.

Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.
