Dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu Alaikum, all members of the Steam for BetterLife community, how are you all? I hope you are well by the grace of Almighty Allah. I am also fine by the grace of God. @klen.civil sir organized a very nice competition. Where we must be proactive to save the world through homesteading by growing vegetables and fruits. So come and grow vegetables and fruits in my house yard, house roof or land field.

I am cultivating brinjal in small amount in our land. Which is always helpful for our food. All of us should grow something in our backyard, rooftop or field. Which we can enjoy ourselves and also maintain the balance of the environment by cultivating plants. I will try to explain below how to cultivate eggplant.

Eggplant vegetables are very tasty and nutritious. Eggplant is cultivated throughout the year in our country. By cultivating brinjal, it is possible to meet daily needs and bring financial stability.

Suitable soil for eggplant cultivation:

Eggplant is cultivated in almost all soils in our Bangladesh. However, for brinjal cultivation, the yield of brinjal is better in atel loam, loam and silt soil. Moreover, the yield of brinjal is more in winter.

Seedling planting:

We do not prepare brinjal seedlings in the seed bed at the beginning of brinjal cultivation. Then 4 to 5 week old brinjal seedlings should be planted in rows. That's why the distance can be made a little more or less according to the size of eggplant seedlings.

Planting time:

Brinjal seedlings are generally planted in Magh-Phalgun months for summer crops, Boishakh months for monsoons, Bhadra-Ashwin months for winter crops.

Fertilizer application:

Fertilizer application in brinjal cultivation should always be observed. In the eggplant field TSP, Urea, MP and cow dung fertilizers should be applied. At the time of land preparation, half of dung should be applied and the other half of dung should be fully TSP and one third of urea and MP fertilizers should be applied in the fall.

Diseases:

When eggplant plants are infected by Fusium fungus, plant wilt disease occurs. The stems and roots of the plant become discolored and the leaves droop and the tree droops. Eventually the tree dies.

If the brinjal plants are infected with downy disease, insecticides should be sprayed as per the advice of the Agriculture Officer.

Eggplant Collection:

If brinjal is suitable for eating, it must be collected carefully while picking it from the field. We always have to be careful not to hurt the tree.
