Hello it's good to meet you again this week to take part in this contest, it is an interesting topic that affects a lot of people this days, natural disasters is very rampant this days and it's effects on people is alarming some has caused death and serious disease condition. Well I will like to talk about the one that affects my place.

Introduction

Natural disasters is a hazardous tragedy that is caused by nature, this have negative impact on people who is affected by it, example includes flood, earthquake, tsunami, hurricane, wildfires, volcanic eruption etc. It is common in almost every part of the world and causes damaged to people properties, loss of love ones in death and some chronic illness.

The natural disasters that is common in my place is flood, it is seasonal and it normally occurs during raining season. It's affect almost everyone because some pathways will be blocked.

Areas they affect

It affects some areas that is in riverine, recently it affects Bayelsa state, some part in Akwa Ibom State, River state, Lagos state etc. Where I'm living it's really bad when the market is flooded, the experience is nothing to right home about, it's terrible.

How do they cause ruin?

Flood ruins everything starting from the building and everything in it, it ruins properties, loses of life. It ruins shops and goods in it. A lot of building collapse due to the force of running water or due to the duration the building is in water. Ruin roads, electricity and many buildings leaving a lot of people homeless, it's also pollute environment.

How are the people affected?

The rate of people affected due to flood is alarming, so many of them are homeless, some losses their loved ones, some are left with abject poverty. Many people are left with chronic illness, some losses their jobs and it affects the family badly. No land to cultivate crops and as such food stuff are expensive in the market, poultry farms are ruined, it causes a lot of damages to people and this really affect their way of living make life so difficult for them to bear. It's so saddened. Erosion can collapse building of people and it's dangerous to live arround there.

The most probably cause of it

This things are natural and they won't have cause harm to us if not that humans has also ruined the earth, it is not as it's creator made it. The atmosphere is spoiled, and the effect of tempering with our environment causes this disaster. As of the flood I will say heavy rainfall at a particular time is the main cause of flood, but there are other things that contribute to it. Some of this which involves dirty and blocked gutters, building of houses in a wrong place most times in water pathway. Filling up water pathway to build houses, construction of roads without setting out gutters for water causes flood.

Was there a prior alert from the Government?

Most times there is some times no alert, it just come as a sudden because of some mistakes of the people living arround. At times the government contribute to this flood, failure to create an employment in the environment department so as to constantly keep the environment and gutters clean and free for water to pass by. Creating jobs for road construction engineers to build a durable drainage for water to avoid flood during raining season. At times when it happens the government have rescue team who come up to helps people living in the affected area.

What can you do in case of a situation like that?

I need to be alert, evacuate the environment immediately this happen, listen to government authorities and their direction on what to do. Also I should be willing to help people who are affected if I'm not living in the area, I should be willing to give them necessary things they need like food, clothing and shelter.

Conclusion

Getting prepared before natural disasters reach us is very essential, also we should always be alert observed our environment and listen to the government in case there is any alert of natural disasters . If we are asked to evacuate the environment we should do so.
