What is Steemit?

Steemit.com is a blockchain-based blog and social media site, which rewards users with the STEEM cryptocurrency for publishing or curating content. source

In short, by writing and publishing content on Steemit, we can get a reward in the form of a crypto coin called Steem Dollar (SBD). Where can we exchange these SBD coins into Rupiah?

When this post was written, the price of $1 SBD was equivalent to IDR 84,818 or $5.79 USD. Not bad, isn't it :) However, this price is very volatile, meaning it can go down and up in an irregular manner. To find out the current SBD price, please visit coinmarketcap.com.

Who gives the reward?

Rewards come from fellow users. Each user can give rewards to other users, otherwise each user can receive rewards from other users. Without reducing what the user has. But what makes the difference is the Steem Power that the user has. The greater the power, the greater the reward value they will generate.

On Steemit there are several large accounts (whales) that have millions of Power that are very selective in rewarding quality posts. Like @steemcurator01, @booming01, @xeldal, etc.

What's the difference with other Social Media?

When most of the other social media take the value of profits only for themselves (companies, investors, shareholders), in Steemit these benefits and rewards must be given to users who have contributed to providing value to the Steemit community.

In short, when playing Facebook or Instagram all we get is just the number of likes, which even the number of likes is not worth anything. In Steemit the like is called a "vote" which will have a value when we get a curation / reward. We can convert the Vote value.

Is Steemit list Free?

Yes, of course. FREE. You can directly register an account via https://signup.steemit.com

But keep in mind, because Steemit is a 'special' platform, we cannot create account passwords like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. The password given by Steemit is in the form of a very long number of letters and numbers which we must save carefully. Because when the password is lost, our account will also be lost.

Are there additional fees for posting, Commenting and Vote?

Not. Posting, commenting and voting content on Steemit is free. You might even get paid!

What can we write on Steemit?

Anything we can write on Steemit. Anything. However, to get a proper reward, the content written on Steemit must be quality exclusive content that has benefits and value for many people, especially for the community and network of the Steem ecosystem.

These posts can be about technology, design, motivation stories, education, photography, food and cooking, scouts/scouts, even light stories about our daily activities such as writing a diary.

There are so many different topics, spaces, and communities on Steemit. We can join wherever we like according to our hobbies, interests and talents

Are there any rules about how to steemit?

Officially none. Because Steemit is built by the users themselves, from us to us . Although we are free to write and publish any content, there are Guidelines or rules that are believed by most Steemit users that we must understand and obey.

Complete Steemit Ethics Guide (Revised 2.0)

Why is everyone's reward different, some don't even get a reward?

Steemit is not a "get rich quick" scheme. Some of the users you see who are heavily rewarded are users who have spent a lot of time networking, branding themselves, connecting with others, and developing their reputation for producing quality content. Their runs are longer and more experienced.

Although there are some users who suddenly go viral with a post that has a very bright idea, and its contribution has a very positive impact on the community. So you get a big reward.

It's best to have realistic expectations, without focusing on rewards when you first start Steemit. We may both understand that our purpose here is because of money, we can't deny it, but don't make it the main orientation. Strive to build relationships with other users, build a following, and develop a good reputation. Consistency will pay off in the long run. Trust me.
