Hello friends,
It is wonderful to appear before this great community again to relate with you all on some important issues we need to grow on steemit.

Yes, for one to grow on steemit, there are some things one should do and things one should abstain from.

There are things that steemians ignorantly do on steemit which prevent them from growing on steemit, and some times they wonder why they are not receiving support.

With this post, I will be explaining the dos and don'ts on steemit and believe me, if you follow this, you will grow with steem

DOS OF STEEMIT

On steemit, there are things we are expected to do for us to be recognized and grow well, and they are;

POWER UP REGULARLY AND JOIN A CLUB

Here on steemit, one of the fastest way to grow is by powering up regularly.
This will help you to build your steem power, and puts you in a situation to better assist newbie.

Also by powering up regularly, you help to contribute to stabilizing steem economy by locking some amount of steems from circulation.

One thing I am sure of is that regular power up helps a steemian to get more support from the curators.

When you engage in power up, you are more likely to join a club.
There are 3 clubs on steemit, club5050, club75 and club100.

Being a member of club5050 means you have powered up 50% of your liquid earnings within a period of 30days ( 1month)

To be eligible for club75 status, you ought to have powered up 75% of your liquid earnings for the period of 60days( 2months)

And to be eligible for club100 status, you ought to have power up all your earnings for the period of 90days( 3months).
Your club eligibility can be checked using this tool

ALWAYS MAKE VALUABLE COMMENTS, IT DRAWS YOU ATTENTION

Another secret to growing fast on steemit is by making regular and meaningful comments, this have been tested and trusted.

Looking at the example of patjewell and chiabertrand, these two were able to become prominent in steemit through tireless and meaningful comments.

When we speak about relevant comments, we are not speaking about;

  • Wow, I love your post
  • Nice write-up

This form of comments doesn't get you noticed because almost everyone does this, you need to be outstanding with your comments, engage with the author, ask questions, make contribution, give your experience if possible.

Take a look at what steemcurator01 said about making comments.

Picking a key word from what was said by SC01, he made mention of relevant comments, which means you can make comments that are irrelevant.

To grow on steemit, one thing we should do is to give relevant comments as I have earlier explained.

CONTENT IS KING, IT SHOULD HAVE QUALITY

There are thousands of content makers here on steemit, as we know that steemit is a blogging platform.

Going through steemit, we would see different posts made by different users, talented writers, and to stand out, you need a quality post.

For your post to be considered as quality, it must have audience, it should be educative, it should have a minimum of 300words.
For you to easily count your words, make use of word counter.

Also, your post should have a catching title that will interest your reader, you should avoid title as
" club100 - how I went to my cousin house, how I fell and was rushed to the hospital and how I payed my bills just to get discharged - 10% to community account and 25% to @null"

Topics like this aren't catching, they will push audience away, especially people outside steemit.
They won't understand what null is, they still won't understand what a community account is.

USE APPROPRIATE TAGS

This is another little very yet Important factor that many seem not to understand.
To grow with steem, you need to be able to discern the right tags to use for your post.

SCREENSHOT FROM MY WHATSAPP

I woke up to see the above asked questions from one of my friend on steemit.
He asked me what tag he needs to use to get more upvotes on campus connect community.

Then I told him that it depends on what he is writing about, he can't be writing about steemgrowth and make use of fintech, his post will be skipped.

To make use of fintech tag, you need to write about finance, cryptocurrency, technology etc

To make use of steemgrowth tag, you need to make post that has to contribute to the growth of steem.

And also, if you don't belong to any club, do not make use of their tags, it attracts penalty.

Also, it attracts punishment from SC01.
In order to grow on steemit, make use of the proper tags.

PUBLISH AT LEAST ONE POST PER DAY, BE CONSISTENT!

One thing I have come to learn from my journey on steemit is that you need consistency to excel, without consistency, it will be very difficult to get known.

Steemit is not a get rich quick platform as many think it is, you need consistency to grow.

Recall I earlier said that one of the dos of steemit is for one to make quality post, so I wouldn't recommend anyone to make 4posts daily as such post will lack quality.

So you can set a reasonable goal of making at least 1 or 2 posts daily.

FOLLOW AND REGULARLY VISIT STEEMIT BLOG FOR UPDATE

Newbies might not get the Importance of this but as steemians that are conversant with steemit, we know that it is necessary to follow steemitblog regularly visit them for update.

There are many projects on steemit hosted by the steemit team.
Projects such as the engagement challenge, community curation team and so on.
So inorder to get updated, you need to regularly visit steemitblog.

For instance, the steemit team has recently dissolved the learnwithsteem tag and have replaced it with team lucky dip, this new changes can only be gotten if one visits steemitblog for regular updates.

COMPLETE YOUR ACHIEVEMENT TASKS

This is air very important thing one should do on steemit platform.
As a steemian, new or old, you should endeavor to complete your Achievement tasks, or you can do it up to Achievement 4.

There are some individuals that have been denied upvotes and reviews because they haven't completed their Achievement tasks

While on duty, I came across this post, this user was denied review and upvotes because his Achievement tasks hasn't been completed nor verified.

SEARCH FOR AND PARTICIPATE IN CONTESTS, IT BOOSTS YOUR GROWTH

Another thing that should be done by users on steemit is participation in contests.
As steemians, participating in contest helps to widen our scope on steemit, we can participate and learn from crypto related contest, we can learn from and participate in steem growth related contest.

Participating in contests also helps to fetch us beautiful rewards, there is no contest on steemit that is without a reward, so we should endeavor to participate in contests.

To enable you see live contest, you can follow @disconnect as he regularly drops update on daily contests.

MAKE GOOD USE OF YOUR STEEM POWER, UPVOTE QUALITY POST

Another Important activity on steemit that should be done is upvoting other articles.

Steemit is a platform that rewards quality contents, so we should take it up among ourselves to also reward quality content with our upvotes, no matter how little our steem power is.

The work of curation is not only meant for steemcurators we all should work hand-in-hand to do this curation work.

By regularly upvoting quality post, it increases your voting csi which makes you eligible for special privileges of service on steemit.

For example, to be selected as a country representative, you have to have a good record of supporting other steemians with upvotes.

DON'TS OF STEEMIT

In as much as there are things that we must do in steemit, there are things we should flee from doing on steemit and some of them will be explained below.

FLEE FROM REWARD FARMING

As steemians, prominent or not, the fastest way to get blacklisted is by engaging in reward farming.

Reward farming can be explained to the use of dubious means to receive rewards from steemit, and this can involve the creation of multiple accounts.

I can recall situation that happened here on steemit, a prominent individual was caught farming rewards, he was caught to be handling multiple accounts, and immediately his account was known and all pending rewards on the account was removed.

As steemians, we should avoid creating multiple accounts, it is a very wrong practice.

AVOID PLAGIARISM, IT GETS YOU BLACKLISTED

Plagiarism is not a new word to us on steemit, it is the act of stealing other users content, a practice of claiming ownership of other users content.

Plagiarism is greatly frowned at here on steemit as it gets you blacklisted, it gets you muted, hereby leaving your account useless.

There are many users that have gotten blacklisted for content stealing and they wish they had heeded the warning given to them.
In order to avoid such, you can make use of this plagiarism tool

SHUN SELF-UPVOTE, IT IS A SELFISH PRACTICE!

Self-upvote can be explained to be a practice done by some selfish steemians, it is the act of upvoting your own posts.

This act is greatly frowned at in steemit, as steemians, we are supposed to make use of our voting power to upvote other users account.

You can imagine what will happen if the curators decide to curate thier posts only, that will be disastrous as many will be neglected on steemit which will eventually lead to the crash of steemit.

The rate of self-upvote a user has done can be measured on steemworld.

Screenshot_20220809-012138.png
Source

As seen above, steemcurator01 has no trace of self-upvote and has a voting csi of 18.9.
For more information about self-upvote and why it is wrong, visit this post

AVOID SPAM TAGGING, IT COMES WITH A PENALTY

Spam tagging can be explained to be the act of unnecessarily tagging other accounts, and many fall prey to this and as such hinders their growth on steemit.

While surfing in steemit and reading people's post, I came across a comment from steemcurator01.

Screenshot_20220807-002448.png

Above, he complained about spam commenting, and spam commenting can be explained to be an act of repeating the same comment in several communities just to attract people to your community/business.

Spam tagging/commenting comes with a penalty

Screenshot_20220809-074858.png
Source

The above user was penalized for spam tagging to show how dangerous a practice it is.

DON'T ENGAGE IN VOTE BUYING, IT IS AGAINST STEEMIT ETHICS

Vote buying is another selfish act that some do on steemit.
It is an act of delegating a considerable amount of your steem power to bid-bot services.

It Is a wrong practice and such engaging in such practice show no interest in the growth of steemit.

Another practice we should avoid is the use of #krsuccess in our posts, using such tags will prevent us from receiving support from others on the platform

AVOID EXPOSING YOUR KEYS

This would have been explained in your Achievement 2 task, on no account should you release your keys to anyone, even high officials.

Even when making posts that has to do with tutorials that needs you to show your keys, always find a way to conceal your keys, because when your keys are lost/hacked, that will be the end.

CONCLUSION

It is very important to know the ethics of steemit, the dos and don'ts, as knowing such will help you contribute to the growth of steemit.

I can assure you that if you follow the above explanation, you will enjoy your journey on steemit.
