Why is giving up on a goal bad?

Abandoning an objective isn't intrinsically terrible; a nuanced circumstance relies upon different elements. Here's why it could be viewed as negative: Deficiency of Possible Development: Objectives frequently push us out of our usual ranges of familiarity, prompting self-improvement. Leaving an objective could mean passing up open doors for development, expertise securing, or self-revelation. Lament: Further down the road, individuals could lament not having sought after their objectives. This lament can originate from not realizing what might have been accomplished or from the feeling of disappointment related to not finishing something. Decreased Confidence: Relentless deserting of objectives can prompt a cycle where one's confidence is affected badly. The outcome in arriving at objectives frequently helps certainty, while rehashed disappointment or surrendering could cultivate a negative mental self-view. Botched Open doors: Objectives frequently line up with more extensive life desires or vocation ways. Surrendering could mean passing up huge life valuable open doors or professional successes. Learned Defenselessness: If surrendering turns into a propensity, it could prompt an outlook where one feels vulnerable or unequipped to accomplish anything, which can influence psychological well-being and future inspirations. Influence on Others: Assuming your objectives include or influence others (like group ventures or family objectives), surrendering can affect their confidence in you or your capacity to finish responsibilities. In any case, there are circumstances where surrendering may be helpful or important: Undesirable Objectives: On the off chance that an objective is negative to your well-being (physical or mental), exploitative, or no longer lines up with your qualities, leaving it very well may be shrewd. Acknowledgement of Better Ways: Some of the time, chasing after an objective could uncover that there's a more reasonable way or a superior objective. Perceiving this and moving centre can be a type of progress as opposed to disappointment. Asset Evaluation: Here and there, going on with an objective could require assets (time, cash, exertion) that could be better distributed somewhere else after a sane evaluation. Individual Prosperity: On the off chance that the quest for an objective prompts burnout or huge pressure without a legitimate return, venturing back may be fundamental for psychological well-being. In outline, while steadiness is in many cases lauded, the capacity to assess, change, or leave objectives when suitable can likewise be an indication of development and mindfulness. The key is in the reflection and dynamic cycle as opposed to reviewing surrendering as all-around terrible.

I read and reflected on your post. My motivation may be different, but the topic is relevant to me at this time.
Within the past year, both my wife and my mother have died. It has been the biggest life disruption I’ve ever faced, but I’m looking forward to the new future and unlikely opportunities I now have.
Because of the expenses resulting from my two closest relatives (Medicaid, nursing homes, hospital bills, etc) my finances are almost completely expended.
The silver lining is that now I am free! There are bucket-list items I can now pursue, and I feel like an 18-year old leaving home and starting my own new life course.
I am now 67, but still in good health. I’m selling my house and heading out on a road trip to the west coast. I plan to volunteer for the National Park Service and live in the on-site housing they provide. Money is no longer important to me, as long as I have the minimal amount necessary to sustain my minimal lifestyle. I’ve thrown away or sold all my belongings and mementos from the past, and the demarcation between the “past” and “future” is very clear to me now. I’m finding it easier to dismiss those past occurrences that no longer matter while focusing on the future.
I am a retired biomedical and environmental researcher. I hope to mentor students and teach to contribute to the advancement of science.
