ᔕᑕᗷ Autovotes vs Manual Upvote

Hello my dear Steemians,

I am back again to ᔕᑕᗷ ᗰOᑎKEY ᗷᑌᔕIᑎEᔕᔕ community and this time there is another topic that I wanted to chat about and it was not just a spontaneous idea but the idea rose from the last post of @wakeupkitty while reading it I thought I will share my experience about and who knows maybe it will be useful for some of you too.

Upvoting and commenting

The whole activities on Steemit platform can be divided into two:

  • Upvoting posts of users if we like them
  • commenting posts of users

... actually I have to correct myself there is also third action

  • Downvoting, that is not very popular on Steemit now but it was popular during old Steemit and also still widely used on Hive platform if the user is considered to receive too High Upvote and if anyone think so then can downvote and reduce the payout reward. It is explained that so long the post has not reached its payout after 7th day the reward does not belong to user and can be returned to Upvote Pool.

In order to be good and engaged Steemian we want to reach many users, support them and also to leave comments. Everyone who decided to be that example earlier or later will notice that it is not enough hours a day that we can dedicate for Steemit activities especially if we do our work properly. Despite of that we notice that there are still posts from users who we like that are not seen and we missed to support them.

By the way, when I am writing that, I recalled the movie "Bruce almighty" with Jim Carrey when he took over the tasks for God who decided to have holiday and initially after he was answering to all the prayers, at the end he was so exhausted and decided to reply everyone with "Yes" and then chaos broke out.

With the time we need to decide if we will live Steemit, that means wake up and start our online Steemit activities, eat between and go to sleep just in order to wake up in the morning and continue.

On other hand, you can keep an eye on your close friends, give them Upvote showing that you saw them time to time write a short comment, but you will still be able to live your normal live.

Autovotes or automatic Upvotes

If we want to support others and especially good users, we then need to be alert all the time and do manual upvote. You probably will be able to continue that for few weeks but there will always be days when you miss upvoting and the Upvote Power will be full but you would not be there. That will waste your Upvote Power and your friends will receive no support.

What then to do? You probably heard about Autovoting there are some programs that you can set up as:

  • voting certain users certain times per 24 hours. It is commonly once in 24 hours, so that you still be able to spread your Upvote Power for other users

  • voting after certain time or rule of GOLDEN 5 MINUTES: if you vote before 5 minutes you receive little reward for curation. Curation at 3 minutes is optimal then you receive the highest reward for your curation

When you set up Autovote for few users, you will still have Upvote Power in order to do manual upvote and that will give you time to breath through and not to rush to the Steemit thinking if your Upvote Power is full and if your Upvote CSI is low. Both of them will give a bad impression for the rest of Steemians and curators.

In busy time of Steemit activities it is important that you make sure that you spread your time effectively, you should use all the necessary benefits that Steemit offering:

  • Autovotes will take off pressure from you and help to support the posts of users you like
  • Be rewarded for timely curation for curation within 5 minute you also will get rewarded when you will use Autovotes
  • Concentrate on Comments you always can come back and write comments when you are free, the posts of your friends who you upvoted automatically you can find in Steemworld
  • Continue Manual Upvote you still continue manual upvote

I hope you also learnt something interesting today and if you want to read more about what you can find more about Autovotes, Delegation and more here is the post that you might find interesting LInk

Personally i feel Auto voting although convenient to some, is just lazy and not very social at all.

I have always been a manual voter which gives me more freedom to vote.

How many accounts/communities do you have? Do you upvote daily and search the entire platfirm for good content?

Manually upvoting is great, but the question is really if the person has enough time. My time is very tight on some days I barely have time and also very tired after work. I still have my family who I also want to spend time with.

It is an interesting topic indeed:

In my opinion, I have two things in mind when we are talking about auto vote:

1st, I save time to manage the account and supported friends and some of those who always post a good reading, and I can check my steemworld to read later.

2nd, I can gain maximum curation reward by setting upvoting time at some posts that usually get fat upvotes as well.

I will spare some VP to manage manual upvotes for some posts I find interesting as well.

But I have stopped the auto voting service since the migration of the WoxAuto migrated to somewhere else...

Have a nice day @stef1

Another interesting topic, and your explanation is excellent (easy to understand). 😊

In my opinion, and I see Autovoting in a positive light, Autovotes mean that you (Fanbase) keep special users in your favorite list and set a voting percentage in advance, which is applied automatically after a certain time (5 minutes). The benefit of this is that if you are busy and can't spend time on Steemit, your vote won't go to waste.

And I think this service is mostly used by users who have a lot of Steem Power or have made significant investments. But users like me, who don't have much Steem Power and don't have time constraints, prefer to use manual voting. Both have their own importance, but I've never used it ( Autovotes) myself because I prefer manual voting.

That is the point, we live on "Steemit ecosystem" like in real nature in order to have healthy forest we need to plant different art of trees and not only one art even though it is useful. The same with sea inhabitants we need sharks, plankton, whales, jelly fishes each of them have their role.

That is why, curation reward is useful not only for large accounts but small. For many large accounts they do not post but they want their interest and this is a way.

We can not blame them if they want high % of return, this is the same like any users who post and would like to have high Upvote.

It is useful tool and definitely very helpful, people can set it up for certain percent and still upvote manually. Thanks you for your feedback.

You're right, a diverse and healthy community is like a forest with many types of trees or a sea with many types of inhabitants. Each plays a vital role. Curation rewards help keep the ecosystem balanced, benefiting both small and large accounts. It's a useful tool that allows for manual upvoting while setting a percentage for automation. Thanks for sharing your insights.

Thanks a lot @wakeupkitty 🌹 , TeamTrue Colors for supporting my comment and encouraging me. I really appreciate it.

5 minutes not 3...

It seems curation efficiency can indeed be higher if you cast your vote within 5 minutes of a post being published. I've been observing different voting patterns, and sometimes early votes (even within the first 2 minutes) show a significant boost in rewards. This could be influenced by factors like the distribution of other curators’ votes or fluctuations in the reward curve.

Right. You give back some rewards by voting before 5 minutes, but it's possible to make that up (and more) by moving closer to the front of the line. It all depends on the size and timing of the votes that follow you.

Indeed, if efficiency is high, its profitable!! even after leaving some more rewards to the author. Like i said it depends on the reward curve Plus , a major factor is how much vote the author gets after you voted

Thanks, corrected, it seems still within these five minutes the highest return.

That is true, now I remember it was changed, but still it depends if someone who comes with higher % of Upvote after 3 and before 5 minute then he got higher curation reward

Interest should have a limit. A steemian upvotes a post without ever reading it properly. If not, how to vote before 5 minutes? It's not a vote, it's a waste of energy. I manually keep track of votes and time. Feel free to upvote posts of good enough quality within the rules.

Thank you @wakeupkitty, for pointing out this post.

Nice presentation about upvote or downvote dear @stef1

But I personally don't like autovote. I hate it when someone autovotes. Only those who are lazy and indifferent to the platform are basically autovoters.

I have been voting manually since the beginning. And that makes me feel comfortable. I consider myself an active man. A Steemian will be manual and paid. Those who post and comment will be perfect. And the votes will be important or valuable. Thanks.

It is a question of convenience, it is good to have it so people can use if they like, there are still majority who do not use it.

Depending you the number of users that people try to keep to cover it is not really easy to be everywhere. The reason why such autovotes were introduced is to attract investors with high return of curation %, because many Investors do not post but they receive the % from their curation back. We all complain why we do not have investors and this is a why to make them stay and invest more so that they see that return.

On other hand for smaller accounts it is also good, because they have Upvotes, actually it is win-win situation, in my opinion.

I liked your words too. Everything has a good and bad side. And not everything is good or bad for everyone. For some, autovote is required, while for some, auto to manual voting is important. very beautiful
And thank you very much for the valuable comments.

Thanks @wakeupkitty for pointing out this post to me.

@stef1 thanks for the detailed information you have given about Autovotes and I believe before anyone will choose to engage in “Autovotes”, there’s a certain level of trust he has for that particular author’s work!

if the user is considered to receive too High Upvote and if anyone think so then can downvote and reduce the payout reward

I wanted to ask you, in the old days, I don’t know if you ever heard of the whale war that happened where those steemians with high sp where downvoting each other… was this the reason that power tussle started among whales?

Curiosity kills the cat... or not.
Let's see if a whale topuc shows up.

Thanks for the mention and support.

In my case, I prefer manual voting. It adds a more "human touch" to the interaction with other users.....However, both options are valid. Cheers :)
