How Nature Blends In: Lizard on a Bench

Blending into the background is something we see in many animals in nature.

I almost missed this little guy, resting on an old bench. Took the shot a while back on a trip back to Big Sur, California, where I lived for many years.

What I always liked about this particular shot is that what you first notice is the green banana leaf, not the lizard. The lizard is that well camouflaged! And yet he is the focal point here.

Of course "blending into the background" can be a useful skill for humans to have, as well!
