As we know that Blockchain provides security and works by taking advantage of decentralization while solving all these problems and providing benefits. This is faster and cheaper than Layer 2 on-chain transactions. We also know this as side chain.

Features of Layer 2 Blockchain System

Layer 1 and Layer 2 provide additional capabilities. As transaction speeds are faster and better scalability is facilitated, there is a secure environment. There are many features of the blockchain system which are as follows.

Off-chain calculation

Layer 2 allows for off-changes in the blockchain system. In this, all the transaction processes are conducted outside in the blockchain network. Due to which the load on the main network is reduced and it becomes more scalable and secure.

Reduction in transaction costs

The Layer 2 blockchain system reduces the cost of transactions by approving off-chain transactions, making the process cheaper

Increase transaction throughput

It allows more than one transaction to be processed simultaneously. Layer 2 blockchain systems increase transaction throughput by implementing off-chain transaction processing.

interoperability

This interoperability can help in connecting with more than one and creating an integrated blockchain ecosystem. Layer 2 blockchain systems can be designed and used to be interoperable.

Better security

Layer 2 blockchain systems can improve security by implementing several security measures. These types of security measures are also helpful in protecting us from people, these can be security measures like multi-partying and secure enclaves.

Examples of Layer 2 Blockchain Systems

Some examples of Layer 2 blockchain systems are as follows:

Rollup

Rollup is a Layer 2 solution that allows for increased scalability for blockchain networks. Roll up helps in bundling multiple types of transactions into a single transaction, which also improves its scalability.

State channel

It is a Layer 2 blockchain solution that allows off chain transactions. State channels enable users to transact without waiting for a record to be created on the main blockchain.

Plasma

It is a Layer 2 blockchain solution that allows for increased scalability. Which can conduct transactions independently without any tie to the main blockchain. Thus, these sub-chains are able to process large amounts of transactions.

Lightning network

It is a layer two solution that allows cheap transactions. This Lightning Network solution also allows users to process transactions without waiting for records on the main blockchain, just like the Rollup solution.
