in SteemFoods2 years ago (edited)

Greetings of the day Steemfoods Family!

I hope you have all had a great week and now ready for the weekend coming up!

In my support to the Steemit initiative of #learnwithsteem, I am here today to show you another easy to make recipe which you can make at home without any complicated ingredients or steps to cook...

FYI, some days back I started with my first easy recipe for #learnwithsteem which you can find on the below link on my Food Diary Game of the 7th May!

Spicy Crab Soup

Let's go for Pickled Onions, Carrots and Garlic!

I started the preparations today only as I got some nice spring onions from the market earlier this morning...

The main ingredient being : Freshly harvested Spring Onions...

Clean them well and wash with clean running water...

You have to get rid of all the dry parts and the soil. And once washed, you need to pat them dry with an absorbent paper!

Bottom part will be used in this recipe...

Next thing to do is to cut them as you can see below! We will use the onion bulb for our recipe while the green parts are reserved to be used in other dishes.

Can stay for over 10 days in the chiller...

All you need to do is wrap the greens in a piece a paper and put in a closed container in your refrigerator. If well maintained they easily can last for over 10 days!

Always nice to have some greens in hands when cooking everyday!

Bring the vinegar to boil...

In the vinegar, I added some water and sugar until it reached a nice sweet and sour taste...

While the vinegar mixture was on fire, I started to place the other ingredients in a sterilized glass jar!

Mix them together...

Let the vinegar cool down a little bit!

After boiling for 2 minutes, switch off the fire and let the mixture cool down a bit!

When the vinegar is around 50-53 degrees Celsius, you can pour it on the ingredients!

And Bam...first step completed!!!

Next cover the jar and let it cool down completely and leave like that at room temperature for 1 full day.

After 24 hours, move the jar a little so that all ingredients are at least wet with vinegar and place in the chiller at 3-5 degrees Celsius.

You can start enjoying it after 2 days in the chiller...

First the carrots will be ready followed by the onions and garlic!

In total for the whole jar to be fully ready, I will say...wait for 4 days in the fridge and you will have an amazing mix of pickles and they all will be at their peak!

Can stay for a month if well kept at cold temperatures and well handled!

So here we are my friends, another recipe that I am sure many will like and will be easy to make at home.

You can add in other ingredients like Cucumbers, Pineapples, Apples, Mandarin, Green Mangoes, Chilies and a lot more - adapt the steps with ingredients you can get in your region and you get the best home made pickles which are always nice to have in the refrigerator at home...

We can have pickles...at any time of the day, isn't it!?

Thanks for reading and hope you liked the post!
Until another easy to make recipe here on The Food Diary Game,
Best Regards!
