Lovely Song Thrushes - Birding / Wildlife
Thrushes are medium-sized birds and live in wood areas and often feed on the ground. They are mainly migratory birds and have over 300 species. The thrush family is very large and they are split into two groups. First group includes the true thrushes and in second group little smaller chats and flycatchers are included. Thrushes are very beautiful birds and I always like to visit them in Margalla Hills, Islamabad.
Orange-headed thrush
The beautiful orange-headed thrush is a bird of the thrush family. It is common in Margalla hills well-wooded areas and every year they came here and they are common in Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Its most populations is resident. Orange-headed thrush likes to live in shady damp areas.
Tickell's thrush
Tickell's thrush is a passerine bird in the thrush family. They prefer to live in open forest in the Himalayas. They are also found in wood areas living on ground. I saw this bird in Hunza valley and also in Margalla's foothill area. Hard to see them as they travel into bushes.
Grey-winged blackbird
The grey-winged blackbird is a species of bird in the thrush family. They are common in Europe but for us they are rare. Every year they visit Margalla hills but mostly they live into thick forest. So watching this bird is a hard task but every year I try to capture this beauty.
Chestnut thrush
The chestnut thrush is also a very beautiful bird in thrush family. They live in western Himalayas and southwestern China but also visit Margalla hills. They live on high place of Margalla hills so I hiked 4 Km to to see this bird. Its natural habitat is temperate forests.
Blue-capped rock thrush
The blue-capped rock thrush is tiny in size and is a species of chat. They also live in thick forest and on a high level of Margalla hills. They are very beautiful and male and female has different plumage.
Blue rock thrush
The blue rock thrush is also a small species of chat. They are rare in Margalla hills. They prefer to live in urban areas. I saw this bird in a human habitat and flying along stone chat.
Blue whistling thrush
The blue whistling thrush is a whistling thrush that is very common in Margalla hills, Islamabad. They are very noisy and you easily recognize them with their voice. They are not shy and are seen in foothill areas of Margalla.
