Gardening and Homesteading: Strawberry Season is Around the Corner!

As we get into June and the days are getting warmer, our small vegetable garden is really starting to show signs of life!

We planted new strawberries this spring, and they are starting to become ready.

It's hard to believe that just a month ago, these were just skinny little plants with a few flowers on them:

In another 2-3 weeks, we should be able to get our first real harvest, beyond just a single berry here and there.

Growing our own food is so rewarding!

This week we will be putting down fresh straw to keep the berries from rotting and getting mildewed as they ripen.
