When I saw the first post concerning the first community curation project, I wanted to apply, but I thought I might not be picked because I don’t have a good reputation, or maybe because no one knows me here, but I came to realize that it’s not all about that. It’s about how well I can swear my allegiance to the community to be productive, truthful, and work with all honesty to the best of my ability. As a matter of fact, I wished to become a community curator.

I was honored with a Bachelor of Art in linguistics last year. I have a good knowledge of English literature and language, and other subjects related to communication studies, psychology, sociology. And philosophy. I read a lot of non-fiction books which make me have some knowledge about science.

Community

Talking about the community I would like to curate, I don’t have a specific community in mind and I have a reason for that. There are many steemian who post meaningful and good content without having a single vote. They can never be motivated to see their effort not rewarded. If you read through my introduction post in the recent steem diary contest, I mentioned why I was not encouraged to keep posting until I recently picked up my account and started again. Of course, the 100 days of steem has been awesome. It brought many accounts back to life. And what do you think motivated them? Votes from the steemitcurator01 account and engagements on their posts in the comment section. So I would be glad to have a free role of curating contents in English and Pidgin language.

This is how I’m going to do my job if I’m picked as a community curator:

Search for good posts with almost no votes and curate them (Irrespective of the community and reputation) and leave constructive feedback on their posts.
Cast a vote on any good post I stumbled upon, even if they are voted before by other community members. (Doing this reasonably)
My focus is on those providing quality content with less or no support from the community members. I’m in this shoe and I know how discouraging it could be. That’s my aim and objectives, and I believe this would help and encourage newcomers and it will go a long way in keeping the existing steemians.

My experience and background on steem

I joined steem 2 years ago with an invite from @ckole. He is a good friend of mine and we do a lot of things together. When I published my first introduction post, I was still in university, I had no vote on my post. In short, my first five posts on steem had no votes. I wanted to be discouraged, but I kept pushing until I heard about musing.io. When I started answering questions, I began to see some votes from the musing community. The reputation I have today was not as a result of my post on steemit, but the votes I got from musing pushed my reputation up, and the contests from thestateofthedapps also contributed to it.

I am a sports lover too. I delved into writing sports when sportstalks created its tribe on steem engine. I hardly get a vote on steemit though I received a good vote from the sports community.

To say the fact, I’ve not had a good experience on steem, and I hope to start having the best part of it now.

Language

The only language I can communicate in is English and pidgin. Pidgin is a formulated language from English that has a lot of slang in it. It is basically spoken in many African countries. this is an example. I can also curate posts like this as well.

Why you think you would make a good curator

Well, with the little knowledge I have and my qualification, I’m sure I can recognize good content. The first thing to think about before curating any post is how good the content is. It’s originality also matters. Is the content plagiarized? Are the images free of copyright? All this should be addressed before curating a post.

Also, my zeal and determination to help steemian get motivated on their posts is another strong point I believe would make me a better curator. I have the time to work all day. Apart from the fact that there is a lockdown, I’ve not gotten a job since I completed my youth service last October, so my productivity would be alarming.

Conclusion

The part to tread is laid down already, starting the journey is what we await. I’ve looked forward to an opportunity like this to prove myself. I want most newcomers to get motivated on Steem and proclaim it to others. I want the abandoned accounts to come alive again. I want to see a lot of activities once again. I would be glad if my application is considered, and I promise to stay by the rules and do the right thing to the best of my ability.

Thank you.
