10 years is enough and a lot of time to effect change either positive or a negative change. Well, it's rather unfortunate in my country Nigeria that things only grew worse and tougher as the year went by. Some things also got better like improved fashion sense, improved educational curriculum, our music taste and technological advances.

Mention 5 things that was there in your country 10 years back that isn't here now?
  1. Bike: Bike which is the motor bike was the only means of transportation before the introduction of the tricycle and the minibus. Due to the constant accident and carelessness of drivers bikes were banned from major and Federal roads and allowed to operate in the rural areas.

  2. Our 50 naira note was usually in paper form went extinct and a new note which is similar to the ten and twenty naira note was introduced.

  1. Use of CD disk player and DVDS but now we improved to the use of satellites like DStv, GOtv,Startimes e.t.c.

  2. Blackberry phones were the most popular ten years ago but now Androids like Redmi, Infinix,Itel, Tecno took over including the Samsung and iPhone which are the domineering product in the market.

  3. Using feature phone like Nokia 3310 but now we have smart phones which are more common.

Is the value of currency used in your country appreciating or depreciating?

Yes, the value of Nigeria currency is depreciating and has little or no value now which call for national concern. During the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele things were way cheaper than it is today. I could remember vividly that fuel was sold for 97 naira but it is now sold for 650naira and above in some filling stations. Our exchange rate with the dollar was not as outrageous as it is now, which means our currency lost value over the years.

Deliberate on the prices of 5 commodities in your country 10 years back and now.
  1. Petrol which was sold for 97naira then per liter and is sold for 650naira per liter now.

  2. Sachet water the least affordable safe water for a common man was 5naira then but 50naira now and 30naira in some places.

  3. Pen which was sold for 20 naira then is now 150naira now.

  4. Exercise book like 80 leaves which was sold for 80naira then is 350naira now.

  5. A cup of rice which was sold for 50naira per cup is now sold for 400naira per cup making life unbearable for the poor masses.

Has these changes affected you? If yes, how. If no, tell us your secrets

The change has affected me negatively because the same amount we earned then is the same amount we are still earning now, no increments but there is increase in bills, rent, school fees, cost of feeding, almost everything is literally outrageous.

I would love to invite @zekanem, @bossj23 and @sahmie to comment on my post and participate in this contest.

I chuckled seeing that old pot, my grandmother call it EKO😂. If you know you don't have enough firewood forget about using that pot. Time changes and we now jave light pots we can place on our gas cylinder for fast and easy cooking. The cost of products such as fuel, rice, pen etc are making life very difficult for us, it has affected us all. Nice content. Goodluck!

Thanks so much for your contributions to my post, it gladdens my heart that you found my post productive and educative. Indeed things have for the worst, but we will continue to survive oo

Indeed thing have changed over the years. For me the economy has gone from bad to worse over the years and it doesn't speak well of Nigeria as a country. I hope things get better soon. Thanks for your participation, I wish you the very best.
