Steemit Engagement Challenge (SEC)| S12W3- "Security Matters"

Hey Steemian friends!

You've probably heard of "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs" right? It's the widely recognized model that outlines our basic human needs. After the essentials like food, shelter, clean water & air we have the Safety as a fundamental human need, and what's at the core of feeling safe? Security! So, let's talk about it from my perspective.

👉 In your own words what do you understand by the word security

It's that reassuring feel of being protected from any kind of danger, then we can confidently say that we are "safe" from the life's problems. However, this is not easy to achieve in life because "security" can have various forms, such as personal security, job security, safeguarding your possessions, security of your loved ones & even health.. that at least the bigger picture of this tiny word.

However, In simpler terms, security is like that trusty safety net, always prepare to catch us when the life presented with unexpected situations.

👉 In your country, in what ways has the government been able to keep the citizens safe?

Our little island went through three long decades of civil war! which fortunately ended in 2009. It certainly brought most peace to the nation, everyone was so happy. But In 2019, the Easter bombings shook us to the core, raising serious questions about our national security once more. Some says its ISIS and some say it is a political game! Whatever it is, I don't trust the government anymore!

For me, it seems like the government isn't making intentional efforts to improve security. They got all the resources like intelligence services, military, and police forces, but are they doing enough? Yes they do, but not to citizens rather to safeguard politicians. Here poor citizen has no guarantee whatsoever because now it's been almost four years went without catching the real master minds behind this attack. So, I wonder can we really say that we are "safe!" No way! we are might be just waiting for the next attack.

👉 Personally, what do you do for yourself or your family to be safe in your town or country?
My motion camera at my work place

I take security seriously. We've got CCTV cameras at my parents' house, and I've installed motion activated cameras at my business place. But our best weapons are our two loyal dogs. Those pet friends are like family, and they're always on the lookout. They bark their hearts out at any out strangers, giving us a signal and scaring off potential troublemakers. Thanks to them, I feel a whole lot safer when I'm at home.

But outside the home or business place, we have no power to control our safety. Anything can happen I guess!

👉 Have you experienced or heard of any case of insecurity (robbery or kidnap)? What happened?

Sadly, yes. One incident hit too close to my business place. It was at a shop just a couple of stores away from mine. The shop sold sports accessories and was run by a young woman. In broad daylight, a man entered, pretending to buy a cricket bat. As she showed him the bats, he grabbed her & tied her up. While she was trying to scream this man had hit her and gagged her. He had robbed all the money, her phone and jewelry she was wearing at that time. Then he had left the shop leaving the helpless girl in the floor.

This had happened around 12.30 and unfortunately that was the lunch time and usually such shops get business in the evening. Since she couldn't scream or move she had to wait until around 04.00pm waiting for the next customer shows up. Police has checked the CCTV’s but till now they were unable to catch him. She eventually closed her shop, because she was too afraid to continue her business.

👉 What do you think is the best way to keep a home secure?

Well, from my perspective, dogs are the best option available for home security. They're like sensors to any potential threats, barking up a storm at anything suspicious and ready to defend if need be. And then there are CCTV cameras, they might not stop a break-in, but they sure can provide evidence afterward. With the technology we can further improve the home security with motion cameras, alarms and smart locks.

¡Saludos amigo!😊

This is true. We have to take care ourselves in the society to a certain extent, but their external factors we cannot control, so that is where the government must ensure its citizens are safe and sound. Thanks for the wishes! 💚

Leer su participación de verdad queda seguridad importa porque todo lo que podamos hacer para no tener no buena seguridad lo mejor tener una mascota un secado eléctrico, candado. Gracias por cada una de sus recomendaciones, éxito.
