Good day fellow Steemians and creatives. For this contest, I'll be sharing with you all a skill I learnt from my mum who is into crocheting and knitting.

Crocheting

Crocheting is the process of making textiles or clothes using a crotchet pin or hook and any preferred thread, yarn or material strands. Crocheting can also be referred to as a needlework, it goes hand in hand with knitting though it is much easier than the latter.

Crocheting has so many use. With a good knowledge of how to crochet, you can make different clothes and materials ranging from shirt, skirt, bag, gloves, table covers, chair covers, socks, caps and almost anything you could think of. You could also create this items in different unique styles and I will be sharing with everyone how to create the banana style on a cap using crocheting as a method.

Tools needed for this crochet
  • A crochet pin.

  • Any desired wool.
For these contest, I will be using Brazilian wool of two different colours; purple and ash to make my cap.

Steps involved in crocheting a banana cap
  • To use the Brazilian wool, I had to open it up so I can use a single strand.

  • To make a cap, you need to make a chain of loops into small circle and this serves as your foundation or starting point. You do this by holding your hook (crochet pin) in your right hand (left if you're left-handed) with some thread rounded on your left index finger while using the hook to make loops.

  • when this knot chain is a little long, you connect it to the origin to form a circle as shown in the pictures below.
IMG_20230418_175032_608.jpgIMG_20230418_175436_404.jpg
  • Make round of stitches to fill the circle as shown below.

  • When you've done this in the space, you'll get something like this;

  • Now, you fix the hook between each space not loop and make another round of one stitch in each space to meet at the point where you began..

IMG_20230418_181931_425.jpg

  • Now you make of TWO stitches in each space between the previous stitches you made as shown below..
IMG_20230419_114612_674.jpgIMG_20230419_114904_682.jpg
  • Now to get the banana forming, you continue making rounds of stitches on the second stitch of the two you previously made. At this point, I decided to add my second colour; ash.

You can add yours whenever and however you want. I made it to be two rolls of ash then four rolls of purple in that way.

  • To make the banana form properly, I increased my stitches from two to three and added one chain after each three stitches so it doesn't curve up too soon while also changing my colour.

You continue this way until your desired length is acquired then you crochet it to the start point and end it there.

PS: You can use the baby or bobby wool. Matter of fact they are easier to use and good for learning. I just wanted to try something new.

Thank you @goodybest for organizing this creative contest. I hope this steps were explanatory enough. I also want to invite @bossj23 , @vudeme123 and @uduak3287 to participate.
