Hi pals,
It's a beautiful week and a wonderful week you would agree. However how close have you been to your environment, oh you would notice that our trash seems to grow more than us.

Today, I was bored and did not know what exactly to do, I went out, noticed a new building in my hood i went in, and I noticed a lot of waste materials which I can utilize to produce something new, thereby benefiting the ecosystem and myself.

The Big Idea

I saw pieces of wood and nails littering the whole place,

I decided to make something out of it and here is what I came out with.

A Saving Box

A saving box is one of the most common property found in almost every average Nigerian homes, it is used to save money conveniently with no stress.

Oh! speaking of Savings, there are tons of reasons why we should save, even steemit encourages savings...... Let's not get into long essays and see how we can utilize what we've got.

Materials required

Materials used: Wood, Saw, Nail, and Try-square respectively

This indeed is a Saving box, to create it, the materials and tools used were;

  • Nails: preferably one inch nails

  • Hammer

  • Piece of wood

  • A Saw

  • A Flash band: For sealing the money hole.

A Flash Band
  • A Try square: which served as a ruler and a measuring tool.

A Try Square
  • A flat screwdriver: (my improvised chisel) which served as a boring tool.

  • A pencil: For marking out.

  • A notebook and pen which contained my measurements.

The Process
  • I measured the woods first using the dimensions I had in mind which I later jotted down. I then cut them according to the measurements

I measured....

...Then cut accordingly
  • I nailed them accordingly, pairing opposite piece together as shown in the image forming something like a book opened at ninety degree.
IMG_20231115_170624~2.jpgIMG_20231115_170644.jpg
  • I nailed the top and then piece all of it together using one inch nails, at some point, the one inch nails was exhausted and I had no choice but to go with the silver coloured copper nails.

  • I'm almost done and at this point, all I need to do is to mark out the hole while using a hammer and a screwdriver, carve a small hole, which would serve as an entry point for the money in the saving box.

  • All that is needed at this point is finishing, I used a flash band to seal the hole so as to prevent insects or anything from penetrating my saving box.
    IMG_20231115_181520.jpg
In the absence of this, you can simply use a paper or carton to seal the hole.
At this point, seriously wish I had a paint to beautify my box even more.

  • Now all that is is left is to store it in a cool dry place away from water and insects like termites which damages wood, which damages wood. Maybe the top of a wardrobe or a bookshelf would be ideal.

Conclusion

Utilizing our waste resources is a very good way to synchronise with mother nature as it makes our ecosystem less polluted. @xkool24 the prudent, @darr22 my super artist and @basil20, what do y'all think.

To all who went through my post, I'm grateful,
I love y'all,
Adiós
