That is it, the statement is never misleading but those who think is misleading only thought so because they did not understand the statement or did not act on time.
Though not all opportunities can be our own and going by your story, you were unable to grab the opportunity because of your education, another great opportunity is coming in which there won't be any hindrance on your way of getting it.

Yes ma. The justification of opportunity been misleading depends on how we view it just as you said.
If an opportunity passes us, we should prepare ourself for better opportunity ahead. Waiting for the same opportunity will make us stagnant in life. I believe the job slot that passes because of my education shows me that there are many people which see my importance to work for them, that increase my moral to study hard and complete my education for such opportunities ahead.
