Trust is a very tender cable that connects our relationships with one another. However, when trust is broken, the impact can be deep as broken trust leaves behind a lot of hurt, doubt, and uncertainty. In this contest, we will be looking at the direction of broken trust, its consequences, and the potential for healing and rebuilding what was once lost.

What do you think the word trust means?

The word "trust" for me is likened to the foundation of a solid friendship, as it simply means having confidence in yourself first and foremost and in someone or something, having the belief that they will do what they say and have your best interests at heart.

Trust is like having someone you can rely on, knowing that they have your back no matter what. Therefore, Trust in essence is all about feeling safe, secure, and comfortable with someone or something. So if you trust someone, it's all about building bonds on honesty, reliability, and mutual respect.

Presently in your country, do the citizens feel safe to trust one another? If not why? And if yes why?

I am from Nigeria, when it comes to trusting one another in Nigeria, it is a very serious debate as people come up with different schemes every day to fraud others making trusting one another difficult.

Trusting in Nigeria has become very delicate as it varies among individuals and communities. Some people seem to trust one another deeply maybe because they are from the same region or ethnic group like the northerners, while others have reservations which is due to various factors like personal experiences or societal challenges.

In Nigeria, trusting one another especially those not related to blood and worse the general public is a very challenging issue due to issues like the high rate of corruption in the country, ethnic and religious differences among the people of the nation, politicians and political instability, and the economic situation of the country where everyone is struggling to make ends meet.

Tell me, how can we live to trust each other when Nigeria is listed among the most corrupt nations in the world as they occupy the number 25th spot? Or how can we openly trust each other when we are listed as the number 1 nation in Africa for fraudulent acts which is the very opposite of trust? This is the state of my nation as everyone now sleeps with one eye open.

Have you had any experience where your trust in someone was broken? Or such a scenario from a Friend?

When I saw this question, I laughed not to fact that I have not experienced broken trust or dishonesty, because who hasn't? But the fact that I'm currently facing one right now.

In my case, it is with my uncle who is a carpenter. I contacted him to help me do carpentry work in helping me fix the ceiling in my house as I am doing renovations so I could move in. He came, gave me an estimated cost and that he was going to start the work in the next 2 days, so I sent him the money required for the work.

To cut a long story short, today makes it exactly 3 weeks since he said he was going to do the work, yet I haven't seen him since nor my money as he has refused to refund me my money even as he's not ready to do the work.

So tell me, now how should trust him to deliver again next time? Funny enough this is not even an outsider but someone related to me by blood.

Can you suggest ways to mend broken trust?

A broken trust they say is like broken glass, hence when mended can never be the same again. However, there is hope as the Chinese have shown us the act of Kintsugi the act of using gold to mend broken glasses that even makes them look more stunning than they were before.

So yes! A broken trust can be rebuilt. However, it will take a lot of time, effort, and sincere commitment from both parties involved. Open communication, understanding, and consistent actions among the two parties are likened to the Gold in the act of Kintsugi for rebuilding trust. However, it may not be easy, as it is not easy even to amend broken items how much more emotions but with patience and a genuine desire, trust can be restored.

I wish to invite @ninapenda, @ashkhan, and @suboohi to share their opinions about broken trust with us.

Thank You for your Time

NOTE: Always have a smile on your face, as you are never fully dressed without one.

No es fácil tener confianza, en una persona después que te ha traicionado. Aquí un ejemplo, el que estás viviendo ahora con tu tío, hasta en la familia ocurren cosas para decepcionarte.

It's definitely tough to trust someone again after they've let you down. Within your own family, things can happen that really disappoint you. Trust is a precious thing, and when it's broken, it takes time and effort to rebuild. But, don't lose hope. With open communication, understanding, and a willingness to work through the pain, it's possible to mend those broken bonds and find a way to trust again.

Hello dear friend, My heart became very happy after reading the answer given by you to mend the broken trust. You have used such beautiful words that broken trust is exactly like a broken glass. To mend the broken glass. Gold is used for but still it cannot be the same as before. To restore the broken trust, it takes a lot of hard work from both the parties, a lot of effort, so we all should avoid breaking the trust.

Greetings dear friend.
I'm glad my answer about mending broken trust resonated with you. It's true, broken trust is like a broken glass, and even though we can try to repair it, it might never be exactly the same as before. Restoring trust takes a lot of effort and hard work from both parties involved, so it's important for all of us to avoid breaking trust in the first place.

Thank you for your kind words about the thumbnails too, I really appreciate it. I enjoy creating them and if you're interested, I'd be more than happy to share some tips with you. Just let me know when you're ready to dive into the art of making thumbnails.

Wishing you all the best in life, and have a fantastic day.

First of all, congratulations, your post has been made in a very good way and you have put a lot of efforts. If you don't, those who respect you are always trusted. Best of luck for contest. Keep working hard. Keep it up.

It takes less effort to earn trust than to rebuild it. When one breaks a trust, it results in guilt and of course loss of that trust. Hence, greater effort is required for mending the broken trust. Thanks for that publication, best of luck
