There are a lot of stories and tales foretold to us as kids that we just got hooked onto that wasn't just true. Nevertheless, we wouldn't know as we were just kids growing up. Many mums still tell varieties of the classics.

But then there were the more mysterious fibs, such as the threats of dragonflies knitting your lips jointly, that playing in pools will give you polio, or that a little man lives in your eyes and sends signals to your mom when you aren’t saying the truth.

Here I am to share a few of them with you as they are so many to recall. Study and see the variety of your own mom’s fantastic tales you believed.

1. DRINKING COCONUT WATER MAKES YOU A DULLARD

This was the very first I came across while growing up as a kid, this is because my Grandfather was a big-time farmer with a very large Rice farm, with coconuts all around, Mum will always say she doesn't want me to be dullard so, I was always forbidden to drink Coconut water. But then, I asked her why is she the one always drinking it.

2. WHILE EATING FRUITS, IF YOU SWALLOW THE SEEDS, THE TREE WILL GROW OUT FROM YOUR TOMMY.

My dear, I cried heaven and earth the very first day I heard of this cause I had just swallowed seeds from Orange.

3. AS A BOY, IF THEY HIT YOU WITH A BROOM, YOUR MANHOOD WILL SHRINK AND EVENTUALLY DISAPPEAR.
This one caused problems in the house a lot, as everyone was cautious of losing their sense of continuity. Lol 😆

4. IF YOUR PALMS ARE ITCHY, SOMEONE IS ABOUT TO GIVE YOU MONEY.

Is there anyone here who is not a Victim of this very one?

5. YOU MUST THROW YOUR BROKEN TEETH AT THE ROOF OF A BROWN ZINC, OTHERWISE, THEY WON'T GROW BACK.

This came with two options, it's either you carry the tooth in your hand and swerve it around your neck according to your age or throw stones representing the number of your age with the tooth or else it won't ever grow again. Lol 😆

6. IF YOU EAT MONGO AND IMMEDIATELY DRINK SOFT DRINKS, YOU WILL DIE.

This is another famous one among parents from this part of the world and it is quite funny if we think about it now.

IS THERE ANYONE OR BODY ATTRIBUTED TO THAT BELIEF? AND HOW DID YOU GET TO KNOW THE TRUE PICTURE?

Yes. I wouldn't simply have believed everything I have mentioned above if it was not my Mother who made me believe them cause she knew my trust for her, then there are a few others my friends and family members had me believe too.

As I grew up in both physique and intelligence, I realized my mum did most of these things to scare me away from bad eating habits and carelessness. That was her way of grooming me to be civilized so she made them up.

WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN I FINALLY UNDERSTOOD THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER? HAS THE OLD BELIEF AFFECTED YOU IN ANY WAY( GOOD OR BAD) OR WAS ANY LESSON LEARNT IN THIS PROCESS?

My first reaction when I found out the truth behind my mum's pranks I laughed, I couldn't help but regret not doing a few of those things I wanted to do on my own but in the end, she is still my mum, and for her, it was for my best. I remembered laughing at how I believed that drinking coconut juice could make me a Dullard, how is that even possible? You had got to see how hard I laughed at myself.

The lessons I achieved from all these was that mums will always be mums, and their love is undying but in all, nurturing a child into being good and well-behaved and living an exemplary life needs no storytelling even as some of these mentioned above helped in ways one couldn't comprehend. Just imagine taking mango and soft drink together, Lol.

DO YOU THINK YOU CAN EASILY BELIEVE SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THAT IN THE FUTURE

Not even a chance! I dare not believe stuff similar to the things I believed I believed as a kid, no Nah, I am more experienced and educated now.

If so why would still believe in childish things similar to the ones mentioned above? Even if I am to do such a thing by chance, one would have to show me proof.
