It's so good to be here again. Special greetings to you my friends. How is your steem life? Are you still steeming or you have given up? Let me tell you, there is no giving up in this business of steem, steem will rise with our various contribution, so do your own part.

Today am here to get involved in the contest hosted by @simonnwigwe I say thank you for having me here.
I will share a true life story that happened in my life many years ago. I hope you enjoy reading. Title :IT IS BETTER TO BE LATE THAN TO BE THE LATE

Story Story....

I had just finished my secondary education in 2007 waiting for admission so I can move further for my tertiary education in one of the universities of Nigeria.

I had to wait at home for one year before I finally gained admission into imo state University Owerri in Imo state. I was full of so much excitement when the news of my admission came from my brother who was already in that school.

My brother, got a female hostel/lodge accomodation, money was sent to him and he paid for it. The school doesn't have a school accomodation for students, so every student was responsible to get their own accomodation.

I finally got into the school that year 2009, in the month of march. That was when I realized my brother had paid for a female facility for me.

I met two room mates already waiting for me in the room. One was in her 200level and the other was in her 100level.

Fast forward....

My two room mates lived a very reckless kind of life, the other who was in her 100 level was the one in control of the room, she had several friends which she brought into the room, they always got what they wanted no matter the means. She doesn't always go for her lectures and we were in the same faculty, although not same department.

My room mates just wanted the best things, the best clothes, the best fashion, the best of everything and anything in vogue not minding the means they achieved it. So they literally slept with different men to achieve their goal.

In my 200level, when they noticed I was not interested in their kind of lifestyle, it became a big challenge to them, so they tried to convince me to join them, I refused. And when they tried severally it wasn't working, they decided to fustrated my life in the room. At that time, I was so innocent so they felt they could deal with me by mocking me and always talking against me. They always mocked my phone, my dressing and even my lifestyle. They told me I was old school. They said I needed to blend with the newest fashions, friends and lifestyle in school. I became a laughing stock to them.

One day, one of my room mate asked me if I have a boyfriend and I said no, she laughed me until tears fell from my eyes. I wondered if i had committed a crime to be mocked that way.

Sometimes, they will go out and not come back until after 2 days or 3 days, especially during weekends. And when they finally come back, they would come back with things like new clothes and shoes with handbags, and other eatable things.

They kept mocking me until one day I got upset and I confronted them, I told them their lifestyle is not something I must do to get what I want to achieve in life. I told them I would have the best clothes, the best of phones, live in a good house, drive on of the best cars but for now I am here to study so that I can create a good path for all my dreams to be achieved. I told them that the things they are pursuing now may not make much sense to them in few years time, I told them to calm down, study, get good grades and graduate from the school. After I finished talking, they were amazed, yet they didn't listen to me, they continued with their lifestyle.

A time came, my two room mate started competing with each other on who will get a particular Brazilian hair. So they began their hustle.

Fast forward....

The competition between them, lead one of them into contacting a deadly disease while the other one came back one day crying that 5 men raped and robbed her. Their lives became sour. The things they pursued no longer made sense to them. One night while I took care of the one with the deadly disease, because all her friends abandoned her and fled. She said to me "Ruth see what has happened to me and my friend in this room, we lived a reckless life because we wanted everything we desires so fast while you concentrated on your studies"

I looked at her and I said It is better to be late than to be the late
