Hello everyone, good morning to you all. Welcome back to my blog. Trust is a long forgetting word in our society today where Friends betray each other, siblings betray each other, even married couples are not left out. What do you think the word trust means?

What do you think the word trust means?

In my own understanding, trust can be defined as the act of having hope, assurance and belief on someone. It has to do with having high hopes on someone and everything they do, believing with your whole heart that the person in question won't betray you.

In marriage, it has to do with believing that your spouse will obey the sacred oath he or her took on the altar. In business it has to do with being transparent with your business partner, having the assurance that they won't cheat or scam you.

Presently in your country, do the citizens feel safe to trust one another? If not why? And if yes why?

Currently in my country Nigeria, the citizens do not trust each other due to so many factors which includes.

Hardship

Hardship is the order of the day in my Country Nigeria. People are willing to do anything including betraying one another in order to earn a living. You can't tell a trusted friend about the profit you made in your business because the and the person might contact kidnappers to kidnap you.

Fear of the unknown

People hardly keep secrets this days. You can tell someone about your secret and the person might end up betraying you in the future.

Fear of scam

Currently scam is the other of the day. People are applying caution in order not to fall victim to scammers and fraudsters.

Have you had any experience where your trust in someone was broken? Or such a scenario from a Friend?

Yes, have been a victim of this. Then in my 200level in the University, my sister had this Coursemate that suddenly started getting attached to her. She comes to my sister's room in the hostel all the time. At that time, I wasn't comfortable with her frequent visit because she was feeding off my sister and the girl in question came from a well to do home. My sister being a nice person felt she was helping a coursemate.
One day, this girl asked my sister to lend her some money that she needed to sort an urgent need and her parents promised to send her money in two weeks times and that she will pay us back in two weeks time. The money was a huge amount of money.

My sister borrowed some money from me and added to the one she had and gave it to this girl with trust that she will keep to her promise. After two weeks, there was no show. Fast Forward to 2months still she kept on giving flimsy excuses. She later gave my sister some part of the money and started giving excuses again about the remaining one. At a point, she stopped coming to my sister's room, stopped picking her calls and was also giving her attitude. Later on, my sister and I seized and sold her power bank before we could recover the remaining part of the money.

Can you suggest ways to mend broken trust?

Forgiveness

This is one of the major ways of mending broken trust. Learn to forgive and forget the wrong done to you.

Express your feelings

This is another key way of mending broken trust. Communicate openly and honestly. Tell the person in question how you feel.

Pray

Forgiveness and letting go is not easy. Pray to God to help you.

Seek professional help

This is applicable to married couples, seek the help of a therapist, because it can be very difficult to trust your partner after an episode in the past.

Thanks for reading through my post, I invite @akofem and @v-brainer to participate in this contest.

Hello dear friend greetings to you, Hope you are having good days there.

You defined Trust as; the act of having hope, assurance and belief on someone. Yes this is true. In trust honesty and being truthful works. If you trust someone you have high hopes on him. Trust once betrayed takes too much time to regain.

The best post dear, best wishes for the contest.

Nice to read your write up and here's my reflection on it.

In my own understanding, trust can be defined as the act of having hope, assurance and belief on someone. It has to do with having high hopes on someone and everything they do, beli

Personality I believe trust goes beyond just relying on someone's actions. It's this profound sense of hope and assurance, trusting someone to their core, with a belief that they won't let you down. It's a deeper connection built on genuine faith.

Currently in my country Nigera, the citizens do not trust each other due to so many factors

From my experience here in INDIA, it's disheartening to see the erosion of trust among citizens. You are right to mention some important issues like Hardship, fear of the unknown, and the prevalent fear of scams all contribute to this lack of trust.

I think itt's a tough situation, and addressing these issues is crucial for rebuilding trust in our society.

Good luck
