Steemit Engagement Challenge 2 | Steem4Nigeria Contest | My Manifesto for the next President by @olabillions
Introduction
This is a subject that is very important in the affairs of man. In every location that man exist to exhibit life, there is always an authority of some sort.
These authorities have some influence in our lives because the decisions they make have a way of affecting our lives.
The first recognizable authorities are the position of the president. In every region of the world were people co-exists, we have an authority which function as the president.
As the president, special benefits are given to them because they are regarded as the number one citizen of the country. They also have the sole duty to protect lives and properties.
Unfortunately this isn't the case Eve in the country where I reside. All lot of things aren't happening as they are supposed to.
I shall be looking into some of them and try to proffer a solution if I became the president.
Analyzing the Current State of the Country
The country I live in is Nigeria and it is in a very bad condition. Looking at the current state of the country everything the ways at which things are going, you would become fearful for the future of the country.
The level of corruption is very high that anyone who is a top member of the political class can do away with stolen money and nothing would happen.
There has been lots of stories about politicians stealing money and nothing happening. But the thing is that it is not just only politicians. Even individuals in government agencies are also part of the pandemic. Not only that, private individuals are also prone to corruption.
Because of this issue, the country has been in bad shape. Most of the monies that are generated by the country is entering the pockets of a few people, thus hampering the growth of the country.
Another issue is the low level of electricity being produced and transmitted to the people of Nigeria. In today's world electricity is a very important part of our lives. We need it to help us achieve our daily needs and goals.
In Nigeria we rarely get electricity at optimal levels and it has impacted the people negatively. One of such negative impact is the lack of production of goods and services.
This is an area where developed countries are ahead. There is constant electricity in their countries which helps them produce things that are valuable to their fellow humans. By doing so it affects their economy positively and they have good developments.
There is also the issue of high unemployment. In Nigeria it is very difficult to get a job. After graduating from the University it is very common to see graduates stay at home.
This issue is so bad that even those that have graduated before you are at home too. It is that bad. There are some situations whereby there is a job opportunity, then you see thousands of job seekers jostling for those same jobs, sometimes they are even asked to pay an amount of money to guarantee their spot in the job, but at the end they get disappointed.
The final thing I want to analyze is the security of lives and properties. As you know this is one sensitive area in which the position of the president has a responsibility, because it is one of the mandates it has.
Unfortunately this has not been the case. The state of killings and insecurity has been on a high especially in recent times.
Just this year alone there has been series of kidnapping of small children from their secondary schools with some of them ending in deaths. There was also killings of farmers in the north. There was also a time a man and his wife were beheaded. Another time a police officer was killed in the north. All this killing were perpetuated by either the Boko Haram sect, Fulani Herds men, or unknown gun men.
Just recently as Sunday in a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State a lot of people were shut dead including children and babies.
This is how terrible the state of security is in Nigeria.
Why I'm suitable for the position of a President
I believe that if given the mandate to rule the nation of Nigeria I'm suitable.
Because first and foremost Nigeria is my home country which I love so much and I don't have any other country as such, so I will treat it as that with so much love.
Another thing is that I'm a builder, I like to build things. So I will start rebuilding the country by stopping the old ways of doing things and begin to do them differently. This singular act would change the mindset and mentality of most Nigerians.
Finally, I will also make sure that the problems that we are currently facing as a country would be tackled head on.
In the next section, I will demonstrate how I will do it.
The most pressing problems the citizens are facing and solutions to them
From the analysis above, we can see that the citizens are really facing a lot of bad situations and this has brought about sadness and loss of hope to them.
With me at the position of the president I'm going to bring about joy, happiness and a glimmer of hope.
I'm going to tackle the issue of curruption. I'm going to make sure that every expenditure made by my government is going to be accounted for. Every project that has been given some funds would be fully accomplished and within the necessary timeframe.
I would also make such that individuals and companies that are found in corrupt act would face the full length of the law. By doing so, it would help curb the curruption menace that is holding the country down.
The next thing to tackle is the electricity issue. We are so blessed in this country that electricity should not even be an issue. So what I will do is to work directly with the ministry of power in such a way that they begin taking on projects that would help increase the production of electricity to high capacity.
They will be giving me feedback concerning their achievements made and the challenges that they are currently facing. This way I would get first hand knowledge of the activities going on in the electricity sector. It will also make the people working in the ministry to be on their toes to make sure that there is constant power supply in the country.
Next on the list is unemployment. I know there are already existing bodies which helps provide small loans for new business owners. I will work with them by providing funds to them so that they can disburse them to individuals who can help to create industries, thereby creating more jobs for others.
I will also search for foreign investors who are willing to come and invest in the country. Doing so would help bring in more businesses and industries which would help to provide more jobs for people.
Finally I will tackle the security issues by first removing all the heads of security. I will instill new heads. Then I will add more funding to the security sector, so as to help get sophisticated weaponry and to help improve the intelligence of the security sector.
The funds will be used to also improve the welfare of the security operatives as this would help them think clearly and perform their duties professionally.
Any innovations I can bring in
An innovation I can bring in is denominating the currency so that it can have value. Currently the value of Dollar to Naira is $1 = N600. This is a far cry to the exchange rate before the current administration came on board. Since their arrival the exchange rate has quadrupled.
The exchange rate is too high and this has affected the nation negatively as the inflation rate has increased. Therefore the cost of living is so high.
By doing a re-denomination of the currency, it would help increase the value of the currency and reduce the associated inflation that comes with it. When successfully done, it would help improve the situation of things in the country and the currency becomes valuable.
Conclusion
The state of the country presently is terrible to say the list. A lot of negative is ongoing and we don't know when it's going to stop.
We have analyzed a lot of things starting from corruption and ending with security issues. All these issues are very present as we get to experience them everyday. The sad part is the there many more issues bedeviling the country.
I have listed how I hope to tackle these issues if I become the president. Of course it is never easy, but it is something that I can try.
Lastly, the innovation I would like to do is re-denomination the currency (Naira) so as to give it more value.
Corruption is a serious canker among many countries in Africa. Africa is endowed with so many resources, but because of corruption we have not been able to explore and utilized our resources effectively, it has really impede development. Your effective solution will surely yield positive results. I am glad you tackled insecurities. Nigerians have been facing a lot of insecurities recently. It makes living the country a worrisome, your smart way of handling this key issues are commendable. Good content, well articulated. Indeed your problems and solution worth my 100% vote.
On the part of utilisation of resources, we would have been a better country if every resources where used in its field
And more i will like to empower farmer and build a strong agricultural firm.
Thanks for your reply
@olabillions - why have you (regularly) set a 50% beneficiary to @theopportunist ?
@theopportunist is not posting and regularly sending STEEM/SBD to @steemlord01 to exchange.
cc @fredquantum @ngoenyi
Thank you so much @steemcurator01 for bringing this to our notice. We had not noticed it. But we will get to find out from him.
Please @olabillions, you will need to respond to this as soon as possible. This is unethical.
We are sorry that we failed to notice this behavior on the user's account before now, thanks for bringing this to our notice.
We would further investigate the issue and see what he/she has to say about this. Thank you, @SC01.
At the time of the club status when we were asked to power up 150steem monthly regardless, I asked some few friends of mine for steem(borrow), so I met Theopportunist.
He was powering down at the arrival club status, so I ask him for steem so as to meet the criteria for the club status then, he put me on some conditions to pay back, that why I set him beneficiaries, when I pay up I will stop setting him and if this is not okay by the Steemit team, I would stop and find other ways to complete the debt
I just want to maintain my club status, so to avoid transferring out, I took the wrong initiative to set him the beneficiary.
Thinking of it now, it looks like reward farming, I don't deal against the rules of the platform, I have been maintaining a clean sheet since I joined, I just try to fulfill my promise to him, because the condition to pay back was much and I had no other means so I accepted the offer.
I have been searching our chat for evidence but since I changed my device, I couldn't find the chat we made back then about the deal.
@olabillions - If you are repaying a loan it will be better to do it more openly through transfers of STEEM or SBD with appropriate memos.
This is the best and ethical option. This way, it will be possible for him to track the amount he has repaid easily. We appreciate your kind suggestions and consideration.
@olabillions, please, I think you will need to stick to this method of repayment as suggested by @steemcurator01. We will not condone any more setting of beneficiaries in the name of loan repayment.
I will heed to the advice, am sorry for the inconenience have caused
Am really sorry
Exactly... During the investigation, we have talked about this, it would have been the cleanest way of repaying loans. We hope the user in question would strictly adhere to the recommendation if there are cases of such next time. Thank you, SC01.
Ok, I will stick to that.
Garcias
I will do that from now on.
In fact, I liked your idea, after reading your post, I realized that you have highlighted the dollar value along with the currency Naira in your country. It seems to me that the exchange rate is much higher. You want to work with it, I like it a lot. A very good thought you made.
The level of corruption is very high that anyone who is a top member of the political class can do away with stolen money and nothing would happen.
You are very correct, corruption is the basic challenge facing our beloved country, you have made a wonderful post, thank you so much for the invite, i am greatly honor
Good we are in the same page, hope you are finding every thing comfortable for you now. Your patience pAid off bruv
My brother, Nigeria is in a total mess. If we fail to elect a good leader this time, we are doomed.
The fear in my heart for the fate of this country in the coming days is much.
Please let's get our PVC and vote rightly. Let God help us.
Who are the good leader to vote for when a candidate is distributing 3000$ to a delegate, on the intervention of God can save us
Now tinubu and atiku are the frontlines of their party. Both that are suppose to be in jail
You see from my angle, you will understand what i mean
Best wishes bro
It will be well
Bro... There is a candidate to vote for. Have you followed the Profile of that Peter Obi? If not, go online, most suitably Facebook and see videos where he talked. He has the capacity to deliver us from this mess.
I know of peter obi but at that level of presidential you cant dictate with the like if obasanjo tinubu and also prominent hausa politicians. Peter obi might have a vision of nigera, what about the bad cabinet the will work for him as a team, these prominent politicians has put to place most of the office elect post. How will you disregard some one that put u in place
Thats how politics is been played in nigera
For me it has always been a game
They dont vote by right, they vote by turn.
Emi lokan🤣🤣
Bro stand for the truth and what you know is right. If Nigerians can vote in Peter Obi, just relax, things will work fine.
Just focus on you and I. It starts from us.
best wishes for you dude, good luck may you success ♥️
Amen and you too

Hello, your country has many problems, but I am sure that with your government plan everything is going to work very well, you have good planning, you are going to be a good President, success in the contest
I sure will, because of my patriotism, i will see Nigeria to become a great nation
Haha
Regarding corruption, it seems that Venezuela has followed in the footsteps of your nation. It is sad to see that the same citizens are the ones who destroy the growth of a country. It is true that the same officials who work for the government are corrupted with corruption all for more money. They inadvertently destroy the national heritage of their future generations!
I love your manifesto, I hope someone correct reads it and can implement it!
I wish you the best in the contest! Cheers!
Thanks for appreciating my publication, as you have commented, almost all of the country's politicians are practicing corruption, the reason being that they go scot free without being penalized if caught or rather they don't catch them atal, which has been breaking down the strength if the country financially
