Surrogacy, How Do people view it? And the Implications

Hi @okere-blessing, I'm happy to participate in this contest you have organized today. I was going through the list of contests and this caught my attention so I decided to give it a little trial. The topic is an interesting one that will allow different users to say their views on the subject matter.

EXPLAIN IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE THE MEANING OF SURROGACY.

Surrogacy to my little knowledge refers to a situation where a woman who is not able to give birth to her child hires another person to come and give birth for her and then gets paid and leave.

This means that if a lady who has money needs a child and she is not able to give birth due to one reason or the other, the lady will hire another lady whose husband's sperm will be inserted into her womb to fertilize her eggs and after that, she will conceive and then born a child and give the child to the people in question and get paid then leave.

IS THERE ANY IMPLICATIONS OF HAVING A CHILD THROUGH SURROGACY ?

Yes, there is a big implication of having a child through surrogacy because, in the end, the woman who carried the child for 9 months in her belly will want to also claim ownership of the child even after being paid.

The fact is that the woman who paid for such a task has not still experienced the joy of motherhood because she has not passed through what other women are passing through to make them complete women.

WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ABOUT SURROGACY ?

I don't see surrogacy as something good at all and for that reason recommended that it shouldn't be allowed anywhere around the world. Most often the end product is usually disastrous because of the fight and other things that come after it.

Instead of surrogacy, I recommend the adoption of a child from the orphanage in this way you as a man don't get to settle issues between your wife and the woman that carried the child. A whole lot of issues are associated with surrogacy. Sometimes the woman ends up taking over another person's husband because of the surrogacy.

HOW IS IT VIEWED IN YOUR COUNTRY ?

Surrogacy is allowed if carried out in the proper channel in my country. We have doctors and lawyers who will have to be present to sign the agreement before the action begin. Though I have only seen this in movies and haven't seen it before in real life as I stay in a very remote area.

A little research I made recently showed that an agreement must be reached first and after that, part or full payment will be made before the girl carries the child.

DO YOU RECOMMEND SURROGACY TO COUPLES WHO ARE CHALLENGED IN HAVING BABIES?

A big no to this question. I don't recommend surrogacy at all. I have said earlier that instead of going for that adoption is a better option. I say this because of all the problems lingering around the entire thing with time.

Couples should always go for adoption and they shouldn't take surrogacy as an option at all. It is better to have an adopted child than to have a child who will break the home when the woma who carried him/her comes knocking with time.
