Hello everyone, it's your friend again. I want to sincerely appreciate you all for your up vote and beautiful comments on my last post. I want to let you know that I'm delighted.
Back to the contest with the topic " The power of Forgiveness".
As a Christian, such topic is not new to me because I have heard this many times. The word "forgiveness" has been mentioned in the Holy Bible not fewer than eight times, and we are also admonished to forgive other people in order to be forgiven by God like we say in the Lord's prayer.
What do you understand by the word "Forgiveness"?
"Forgiving others means letting go of resentment and giving up any claim to be compensated for the hurt or loss we have suffered"Source
To me, forgiveness means letting go of the hurts or pains someone/people may have caused you.
Why do you think forgiveness is important in maintaining healthy relationships? Give 3 importance
- Forgiveness gives room for the other party to correct the wrong that was done earlier
- It builds trust
- It leads to long lasting relationship, for instance in a marriage or friendship
Have you ever faced challenges in forgiving someone? How did you overcome them?
Yes, I have faced the challenge of having to forgive. Firstly, it's ok to get hurt, it's ok to cry if possible, nurse your pain but do not let it weigh you down.
I've had difficult situations that I've thought I'll never forgive but at last I had to let go of it but sometimes, that usually sticks with me. It's usually difficult to forget about some of those things.
I mean the guy who took my wedding pictures and videos came back begging my husband with some "kini kini" stories that I don't know about till today. At first, I'd vowed never to forgive him but after so much thought, I saw there was nothing to hold on to especially as my faith in God would not allow me to keep the grudge. Though he never said sorry to me personally, I'd let go of it.
How I overcame that? I'll say that it's my faith that has helped me not to keep any grudge against anyone.
Also, I've made a concious effort to forgive anyone who hurts me no matter the offense. This is because piling up unforgiveness is dangerous, it kills slowly, it's like an acid, it eats up its victim unknowingly.
Can you share a personal experience where forgiveness played a significant role in your life or the life of someone you know?
Yes, my sister hurt me to the point of tears years back. I overlooked that, being the eldest and moved on. Today, we are best of friends, she knows better as she has learned from the past. And my husband, before we got married, I'd long let go and today we've been married for years.

What do you make of the statement "Love and Forgiveness are twin that cannot be seperated". How true is that?
Love covers all things so the Bible says. So, anyone who loves a person/thing will easily forgive no matter what.
In conclusion, I'll say that forgiveness is very important and necessary. As research according to people say, that unforgivness has a way of affecting ones mental and emotional health.
So to make it easier, just make a very conscious effort to forgive whoever hurts you even before they say "I'm sorry" and try to let go of the past.

To me, forgiveness means letting go of the hurts or pains someone/people may have caused you.
Forgiveness means, i have offended you and i feel sorry for how i made you feel please forgive me. No big deal in letting go of the pains others have caused you. When you forgive you become better for yourself and others.
