Universe at large - Space Travel

Hello everyone, it another beautiful weekend to write more and more articles. In my article today, I will be writing on Space.

Introduction
The search of knowledge about the earth and it's environ was the genesis of man understanding of planetary body. Scientists of old occupied themselves with the problem of truth and realities in the face of facts available to them. Most of the facts then we're limited to the earth alone, however as knowledge kept increasing, available facts increasingly point to a world beyond their immediate comprehension though they were limited by available equipment. Scientists were happy when they could observe objects with magnifying glass. The array of planetary bodies beyond the earth atmosphere and the entire area beyond the earth atmosphere is called SPACE.

Space unlike the earth has no water, air or life. It is descripted as being filled with either emptiness,or vacuum. Anything that needs material matter to express itself cannot feature there. Space travel making a journey to destination beyond the earth atmosphere. The automobile used for space travel is called Space shuttle or rocket.

Men that travel to space are called Astronauts. The first rocket was sent into space in 1957 by Russia. He orbited round the earth for 108 minutes before returning. Modern Astronauts can stay as long as six months in space performing various experiments in medicine, technology, weather patterns, or agriculture.

This was followed by America in 1958. (A rocket is a device containing an explosive powder that shoots into air when lit. It is in shape of a tube that is driven through air by gases released when fuel is burned inside it). Scientists are at present very much occupied with space travel and, there have been many artificial satellites launched. Some of them have carried astronauts, others have been sent up with instruments that sends signal automatically back to earth.

On 21 July 1969 Neil Armstrong, an American became the first human being to step on the moon. He was followed on the same day by another American named Edwin Aldrin. They stayed on the moon for 21hours 36minutes before they lifted up.

Problems of space travel
Human beings who have stayed in space for long periods develop weak bones due to loss of calcium. Weightlessness is another problem of space travel. Another that resembles it is low gravity in space. This makes active living very difficult. Sometimes, astronauts have come out of the space station into open space to carry out essential repairs and experiments.

Purpose of space travel
The very fact that we all able to communicate through the internet is due to many technologies that have been developed because of the space age. The computers that originally put man on the moon had nowhere near the capabilities of the ones that we are now using. A lot of internet and other communications technology involve the use of satellites. They would not be there without space exploration.

Benefits of Space Travel

-Weather Forecast and Agriculture; it helps in weather updates as well as predicting the crop yields, pest infestation and the area under cultivation.
-It makes it easy to predict natural calamities such as floods, storms, tornadoes.
-Space exploration has made a big impact in the medical field.
-The field of electronics and computers have also benefited from space exploration.
-Space exploration has also brought about nuclear fusion, the process enables the Sun to produce energy in abundance.

Conclusion
So we can now see that the application of knowledge and the technologies, with the man's efforts to explore space, are making life easier indeed!
