My understanding of the phrase “The Customer Are Always Right” entails that customers are meant to be treated kind and followed with mild tone no matter the insult or abuse they might render on the shop owner or to the business owner. To themselves, they tend to be right at all cost.
Normally, customers tend to be annoying when patronizing your product or services, but then you don't need to show up your worst side to them or quarrel or exchange words with them. As a matter of fact, the are the ones making your business to move, for without them there's no sales and your business will begin to drastically go down because of your inability to apply wisdom and know what to do when such situations rises.
To further explain, the customer is always right in the sense that, they try to act up sometimes to know your reaction. They do such as a form of “test” to the business owner just to know how patient enough you can be with them. While most of them turn out to actually be a destiny helper in disguise.
Yes!. I have been treated special. There was once a time I went to the market to buy food stuffs(fish, and stuffs for stew). In that area was this particular seller that sales her goods at a cheaper rate. I came when there were just three people, she sold to two people and other customers started trooping in. I got annoyed and asked her about my own demand, that she should provide mine immediately or I leave.
She gave me a sign to calm down that she will do me well. I had to calm my spirit, after she was done with all other customers, she now personally came, took my list and brought out what I needed with extra upon each. She also offered me drink and snack for exercising much patience with her. That's why she still remains my favourite.
As I have been treated kindly before that's the same way I will reciprocate to others. I have been in a situation where I needed to treat my customer well, here is what I did. An elderly man came to our shop to withdraw some cash, he didn't have his ATM card and wanted to transfer to my boss to get cash. My boss phone wasn't going through, so he has done the transaction awaiting for confirmation. He had somewhere urgent going, and was about raising his voice , I asked him to calm his temper that network will be through.
In less than 20 minutes my bosses line was through, I spoke with him to know if he received any credit alert, he checked to confirm it. Called me back on phone and asked me to go ahead and pay him. I gave the customer his cash and he dashed me 1k, I was really excited and speechless why he did such.
I believe the phrase makes sense, Is neither misleading nor too much. It is therefore the right phrase to use because no one can actually predict any customer's reaction to the service you offer to them.
The origin of “The customer is always right”
Here's a little origin on how the phrase was coined out from;
Though it’s unclear who coined the exact phrase ‘the customer is always right’ first, the idea was advocated around the turn of the 20th century by Marshall Field and his protégé Harry Gordon Selfridge, who later went on to start the wildly successful Selfridges chain of stores across the UK.

No matter what a customer does, just see it as being right because without being patient with them, you will end up loosing every customer and attaining loses of your goods.
