Steem4nigeria Accelerator Contest Week 57: What gender do you prefer your child to be?

in Steem4Nigerialast month

I want to have a boy as a child; she wailed. Her 5 children are all girls. She has been praying for years for a male child. When she finally got a male child, she treated him like a king. Another scenario is that of a woman who bore five boys as children. She has been praying for a girl child to be her closest companion in the kitchen and in the house generally.

These two genders are specialities in the lives of parents, as some prefer one gender over the other due to expenses, cost of training, rendering services at home, and being useful as well.

  • Do you know female children are investments in their parents?
  • Do you also know male children are a protection and useful asset in terms of work in the house?

Let's not debate this. I'll use the questions below to give my own view, as we all

1000129433.jpgA father and his assets
Boy or girl child, which do you think is more expensive to train? Give your reasons.

In this era where the world is advancing steadily, girl children are treated as specialities. They are regarded as weaker vessels that need attention and special treatment in terms of education and things that may be complex. Most parents spend money to take their girl child to private universities where they'll not have to undergo the four walls of stress in federal universities.

They'll assume their male children can be used to the stress as they are manly and can cope. And aside from the stress, they invest in the safety of their girl children so as not to be harassed by men or kidnapped, as the case may be. They can go extra miles into providing an excort for their girl children even at the cost of paying these excorts.

Now let's go deep into raising these genders. Females are expensive to raise in that their clothing and personal care tend to be pricier than those of boys. Let's take for example their dressing and grooming. Girls have the largest amount of clothes in their wardrobes compared to boys, and they always need personal care products like hair, makeup, sanitary products, etc., which adds to what the parents expend monthly.

Boys can manage a limited number of clothes and don't need personal care products, makeup, and other accessories. Me as a boy go on low cut, which is less expensive compared to the attachment girls plait.

1000129445.jpg

When it comes to health, girl children require frequent healthcare services during adolescence, which is part of the expenses the parents put themselves in. When it comes to going out for big events, girls dressing and outfits from head to toe is enough to feed the poor. This differs though, as some parents spend more on their male children than females.

In conclusion, female children are more expensive to train because they are investments worth millions of naira. They need to be nurtured in a way that investors can invest heavily in them.

If you were to be a parent today, which gender do you prefer to have as your children? Give us your reasons

I'll love to have male children for a lot of reasons, though both are important in a home as they have advantages and disadvantages. I'll start with that of having a male child. Some people say male children give them headaches and are very stubborn from statistics, but that won't be a problem for me because I love when the house is lousy.

1000129442.jpgmale children is preferred by me

Their being stubborn makes the house interesting and lively but would be controlled from infancy, so their being stubborn won't be a serious concern negatively. This aside, make children very useful in terms of tedious tasks.

When it comes to frying Garri, farm work, sanitation in the environment, fetching fuel wood, washing cars, running errands, and doing most tedious work at home, they are always found capable as they have the strength compared to most girl children who'll feel you are suffering or punishing them.

1000129421.jpg1000129427.jpg

These are things most mothers won't allow their female children to pass through because they feel they are precious stones and should only be found doing simple tasks. These are a few reasons why I'll prefer to raise a male child if I'm a parent. The only thing about girls is that they are very good in the kitchen and are good at managing homes compared to boys, who'll always feel indifferent about cleanliness at times.

In as much as I'll love to have both genders, I prefer male children.

During adolescence, which gender shows tendencies to go out of control? Why

During adolescence, both tend to show tendencies toward going out of control, though the male child has the most ability to show these tendencies. When male children become adolescents, they have these tendencies of growing wings due to peer pressure from friends to become men while they are still young.

They tend to become manly in their attitude, and some do display a stubborn attitude when called upon to do work. They even raise voices with their parents when they talk to them, or they tend to ignore them.

1000129429.jpg1000129438.jpg

These attitudes are common among most adolescent boys except for those who have good home parenting and can resist the urge to be pressured by peers. I can recall cases of young boys in my street who go out of control at home. There's this particular boy who ignores the parents when they send him errands. He sometimes threatens the parents if they don't meet his needs. He keeps late nights and goes out anywhere without informing members of his family.

Nowadays, male children don't even wait to become adolescents before that tendency grows. It is manifested in male children of 6–10 years now, as they tend to be even more stubborn than adults. Female children no doubt do go out of control, but not as male.

What do you think about the statement, "What a boy can do, a girl can do better"

Personally, I don't doubt this statement in many dimensions though the plain and reverse all have points. In terms of what a boy can do that a woman can do better, this may include cooking skills and home management.

When it comes to advice, communication, and perseverance, these are what men can do, but women have the greatest potential to carry out these more than men. Women manage a home better than men do and are very intentional about cleanliness and personal hygiene, things most men find difficult doing.

1000129434.jpgThe warmth of a woman

They endure more than we men do, and they are the most empathetic and caring. That's why you'll always see a child with his or her mother because that care, love, and warmth are found under their loving arms. This is the reverse when it comes to protection, as women cannot protect more than men do. When it involves tedious tasks or work like building, farming, and anything involving strength, men are found better at this than women.

1000129423.jpg1000129421.jpg

A more similar scenario is what happened when we wanted to write exams in chaos. Both boys and girls had to struggle to write, and from what I saw, the boys outweighed the girls in physical strength as they were left behind. If you look at this picture, you'll see that there's no girl in this crowd, as they can't stand the pressure and strength arising. They are weaker vessels. So what a man can do, another man can do better. This is how I view the statement.

1000129441.jpgA man's incomparable endurance and strength

In terms of leadership, you'll barely see a woman before a governor or president. Not that they are rendered useless, but men have more leadership skills compared to women. So what a man can do, another man can do better.

In conclusion, the decision on gender is personal and may be drawn from the experiences of those who have. I would love to nurture both genders but would prefer a male child as my first child if it has to do with choice. Thanks for going through my content. I invite @patjewell, @josepha and @whizxbro4eva

I can see why you would like to have boys one day.
I think it is every father's dream to have a boy to follow in his footsteps, but boy oh boy, when that girl comes along, Daddy has only eyes for "Daddy's girl."

Boy or girl, you will be a great daddy one day.

Best wishes!

Wow. Thanks for the best wishes. From experience, I can tell you know the answers to all these questions. Can I interrogate you a little? Sorry for asking personal questions, when you got married to your husband, did you guys do a debate on who the child would be? If yes, what gender did you wish your child to be and why? Also, did you wish to have many children? Three questions for you ma.....

Just think I should learn from you as it helps in family planning when I get to that stage.

Okay, here we go...

  1. No, we did not debate over the gender of our first child.
  2. I wanted it to be a boy, and for one simple reason, men want a boy so that the family name could carry on.
  3. Nope, I only wanted the one child, but God had other plans. He blessed me with a beautiful baby girl two years later.

I was a happy mommy. (•ิ‿•ิ)

Detailed as usual. Both male and female children are important to the family, it's best you have them both than just a set. Being from all female family, I understand where you mentioned that male children are protection. That's why our mother raised us as lions knowing we could be bullied by boys, with that, we have always been those dreaded girls around our neighbourhood. (That was then, I'm old now😄).

Maintaining or raising children now a days is almost the same if you ask me. But I agree with you that raising girls children maybe a little different but some them are all by choice like making of hair using hair extensions, so parents can choose to give their girls low cut.

In all, we should try as much to avoid gender stereotyping and give our children equal love, care, opportunity and a better upbringing.

MODs Comment/Recommendation:

It's interesting to hear your perspective on wanting male children for specific reasons. It's true that boys can bring a different dynamic to a household with their energy and willingness to tackle tough tasks. While some may find their stubbornness challenging, you seem to appreciate the liveliness they bring. Each child, regardless of gender, has unique strengths and qualities that contribute to the family dynamics. It's essential to recognize and nurture these individual traits to help them grow into well-rounded individuals.

A very interesting tutorial to publish here because there is still time for you to always share your experience with your beloved children
