SEC S15W5 "My Country and Her Mineral Resources."
Nigeria, located in the westerners part of Africa popularly known as the giant of Africa, got her independence on the 1st of October 1960 and became a Republic on the 1st of October 1963.
Nigeria is a country with over 700 languages and different ethnic groups, with Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba as the three main ethnic in Nigeria, you will hardly travel to a place that you don't see any of this 3 ethnic groups.
Nigeria has 36 states and capital, and the official capital of Nigeria is Abuja.
Nigeria has boundaries with countries like Cameron, Niger, Togo, and Benin Republic, respectively.
The official flag of Nigeria is green, white green, with the green representing Nigeria abundant natural resources and agriculture and the white representing the peace of the nation.
The official motto of Nigeria is Unity and Faith Peace and Progress, which is located in my country coat of arm.
The two horse in the coat of arm represents the strength of our great nation, and white sign represents the two main river of Nigeria which is river Niger and Benue and the black shield represent Nigeria fetile soul for agriculture.
Nigeria is the most populated black nation in the world, and it is an official currency in Naira, which was introduced in the year 1973.
The two main religions in Nigeria are the Christianity and Islamic religion.
Nigeria is a country that promote tourism and they are lots of attractions center in my country which gowhich are d different adventures.
Nigeria is also the highest petroleum producing country in Africa.
We are currently practising democracy in our country, Nigeria, and the recently elected president of our great nation is His Excellency Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who was sworn in last year on May the 29th.
Nigeria is a great nation, and I am definitely proud to be a Nigerian I prom. se you if you that visit Nigeria you wi, l not want to return to your country because you will definitely enjoy your stay.
Like I said earlier, Nigeri is blessed with abundant natural and mineral resources. Below is the list of mineral resources available in my country.
- Coal
- Crude Oil
Lead and Zinc - Gold
- Marble
- Salt
- Petrolem and Natural Gas
- Limestone
- Iron ore
- Kaolin
Yes, all these mineral resources have been fully harnessed by my country, Nigeria.
Nigeria has used crude oil to bring developments in some parts of the country by opening an oil sector and employing citizens to work for a better nation.
The petroleum we use in our country today is generated from the crude oil, and other minerals resources have also been put to used by the government and leader of our great nation.
In order words all the mineral resources have been fully harnessed in my country by putting it to use and make sure it has an impact in our society, sometimes they go in search of this mineral resources just to make sure that they are use to form new products.
Unfortunately no, the corruption and bad governance in my country have things to be extremely difficult for we, the citizens.
Our leaders only care for themselves and their families without thinking of the well-being of their citizens.
The money generated from all these abundant mineral resources are lavishly used by the government for their own selfish benefits instead of using it to make its citizens have a comfortable living they are using it for their own selfish benefits.
During the pandemic period, some of our leaders stole money and hid it somewhere that they enev forgot about it, and the money got spoiled. Just imagine the wickedness of man.
There are no jobs in the country and the rate of unemployment in increasing everyday which is very bad and our leaders aren't bordered about it.

No doubt mineral resources are necessary, but I think people themselves are the most precious resources that a country has.
I remember a Nigerian guy that we worked together in a factory back in the UK.
He was a very good worker, a decent lad, and a gentleman indeed, also a family man.

Nigeria, a diverse nation in West Africa, boasts rich cultural heritage and abundant natural resources. Despite its potential, corruption and poor governance hinder citizens' well-being. While mineral resources are harnessed, their benefits are often misused by the government. Unfortunately, the proceeds rarely contribute to improving citizens' lives, exacerbating unemployment and hardships.
