Another year to be grateful; happy birthday to me.

Day after day and time after time, the days go by as the breeze blows and we are grateful for another day, week, month and years added to us.

Today am grateful for another addition to my year. God has been faithful I must admit. It’s been a roller coaster of a year but I have every reason to be grateful To God especially for the gift of life. I don’t have everything I need but am not where I used to be.

Today is my birthday and I thought I could do something different for myself. I decided to take myself out to celebrate my birthday with me alone. I wanted a me time, something I’ve not done before.

It was a time of my life as I took a ride from Lagos Mainland to the Island to visit the Elegunshi private beach and see the ocean. The driver who took me on the ride was quite friendly and he was describing the land marks for me.

We passed the third mainland bridge that connected the mainland to the island. It was a long bridge and a beautiful sight to behold. I saw the civic center, the famous mobile oil company headquarters in Lagos.

Have you heard of the famous one thousand and four flats in Lekki phase one. This is a string of house which numbers a total of 1004 flats. Can you imagine one thousand and four flats of building, that must be massive and it is. I was fascinated and I couldn’t help but take a few pictures to share with us.

Then We passed the famous Lekki toll gate which has a bad history in my country. Four years ago, a national protest took place at this particular site and Some persons lost their lives because the military shot at them. I hadn’t seen the toll gate until today.

We continued our journey to the beach and I was excited when I saw the ocean raging in its beauty. I couldn’t contain my joy. I quickly changed my clothes into a more comfortable clothing for my envisaged communion with nature.

I love water and am fascinated with water bodies. I could sit all day looking at the water tides as they rise and fall. The water rising and breaking at the shore and washing some shells of probably oysters to the shore.

I walked round the shore picking some of the shells while continuing my communion with the salt water. I had lots of fun being wrapped by the raging yet soothing salty ocean water.

I rested a while while taking my parfait in my rented sun bed and when I was done, I went back into the water to have a final dose of my fun communion with the water .

There were other people on the shore swimming and having their own good time. When I was tired of swimming, I went and freshened up and dressed up again, booked my ride back home.

On my way home, I got ice cream and shawarma to eat for the night. I took my bath, and breezed in here to share my day with us.

Am grateful for another year and it was a day well spent. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.
