Steemit Engagement Challenge | Season8 Week1 | My learning during the pandemic - @janemorane

in STEEMIT HEALTHlast year

Hello beautiful people!

Beginning of Season 8 of Steemit Engagement Challenge with a very nice topic, indeed pandemic was very difficult time for all of us and we also had many learnings from pandemic so it is a very nice way of sharing our learnings from pandemic.

What do you consider to be the main lesson you learned from the pandemic?

Most of the people in the pandemic didn’t really die from the virus itself but there were various other reasons which lead to thousands of deaths. Most of the people who were already high Blood pressure patients, heart patients and having anxiety died because of the fear of Covid. There were many rumours and false news spreading over and due to those news many people got terrified, this extreme fear of getting ill took their lives.

What I learned is that we all have to be calm and relax, because life is temporary so one should not be terrified enough that it takes their life. In my opinion taking care of yourself and your trust in God should always be there and if it is written in your fate then nothing can change it.

Did you have any loss of family or friends because of the pandemic? Can you tell us about it?

Alhumdulillah, all our family members and friends were safe in this pandemic. My mother played a vital role in keeping us safe during the whole time period. When someone comes to our house my mother used to tell them to change their clothes in the other room, wash their hands and face along with feets and then she used to spray on them so they were free from any kind of virus and only then can enter our house.

The other thing which my mother did was giving us boiling water, my mother used to boil water and then keep it for sometime to cool down and then we all used to drink that boil warm water and believe me it help us a lot because all of our family members remind protected from this virus and didn’t loss any of our friends and family members.

What was the most difficult moment during the pandemic?

Pandemic was indeed a hard time on most of the people and so was for us. We had some hard moments too. When the COVID started it was at its peak in Italy where my brother studies. When the situation got really worse and we saw on the news that in Italy there are thousands of deaths happening we all got really terrified and it was a very hard time for us.

My mother used to cry all day and night and we all were very worried for him. My mother told my elder brother to tell him to come home at least you will be safe and with us we will be relaxed. But at that time when he booked his ticket, due to the high spread of virus through flights his flight got cancelled and then we heard on the news that all the flights in Europe are cancelled due to high risk.

My brother and I were aware of the situation but we didn’t tell my mother that his flight got cancelled. That was a very difficult time for all of us. All of sudden at midnight my brother called and said that I am coming by tomorrow’s flight. His flight got cancelled but he got a ticket in the last flight that was about to fly from italy. Alhumdulillah came back home after two days safely but at that time the situation was very tough for all of us.

After all that process, do you value your health more?

From this pandemic one of the important things that I learned was, I realised how true this phrase is “Health is wealth”. During the pandemic we didn’t care what we were wearing, what we were eating and that whatever we were doing, all the matter during the pandemic was health. I realised being healthy is another blessing of Allah and whenever I see some news regarding the increasing number of people affected by COVID I thank Allah for my good health.

Why I value my health more now is because we always want more and more and never be thankful for what we have already but a pandemic taught us that being healthy is itself a happiness and now I feel the happiest when I am healthy and I never want anything else in life but good health. I want to tell my friends that if you are healthy, be thankful and be happy because everything can be bought but not health.

Did the pandemic impact your finances positively or negatively? How did you cope?

Pandemic was I think the hardest on all the people especially the poor and middle class people were affected by it the most. We personally were affected negatively. Due to the lock down my father’s shop got closed and my father was the only breadwinner of our family so it was very hard for us to go through.

My brother was in Italy and was also not at home so all our sources were closed but Allah never leaves their people hopeless. We had good food the whole time. My uncles, my maternal uncles, helped us a lot during this whole pandemic by bringing all the groceries for us and in the pandemic only food became the basic necessity of every individual.

As we live in a rented house and after our house owner saw our current situation they didn’t for two - three months and that was another help which gave us very much comfort.

Apart from the lack of financial resources, by the blessing of the almighty, none of our family got affected by the virus and I think we spent the whole pandemic and the hard time with so much ease and comfort.

I invite my friends @jyoti-thelight, @shohana1 and @aaliarubab to participate in the co

Greetings, @janemorane! ,

Your post on the Steemit Engagement Challenge about the lessons you learned during the pandemic is interesting .

One of the main points that in your post bound me for comment is that fear and anxiety caused by false information led to many deaths during pandemic , i am very much satisfied with your this statement of course i see many people who are caused by anxiety although no issue with them related pendamic but fear only . It is mote important to remain calm and not let fear take over our lives. Instead, we should take care of ourselves and have faith that whatever happens is meant to be we cant stop any thing but can control through care .

Best regards ,

Yes you are absolutely fine friend, Thank you so much for your valuable comment.

Hello dear friend, the pandemic was something that changed our lives in a radical way, the way we take care of ourselves, the way we relate to people and undoubtedly, we now value life and our loved ones more, or so it should be.
