Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 8 Week 3: Smoking Kills
Hello steemit friends wherever you are, how are you all? This time I'm back to participate in the Steemit Engagement Challenge - S8W3 contest with the theme Smoking Kills on the STEEMIT HEALTH community.
Personally, I totally agree with the expression smoking kills because the content in a cigarette is so dangerous. Although not directly, smoking can slowly threaten health. Lung and heart disease are the most serious threats to smokers, especially heavy smokers. Smoking can also cause cancer, impotence, and pregnancy and fetal disorders in pregnant women.
Cigarette manufacturers even provide a strong warning on each pack that smoking can kill. That shows how dangerous smoking is for its users. Cigarette smoke is not only dangerous for the smoker himself. What is more worrying is that cigarette smoke can also pose a danger to people around the smoker because they also inhale the smoke. But it seems the warning does not stop smoking.
Various reasons make a person addicted to smoking. There are reasons that are illogical in my opinion, namely eliminating depression. Even though smoking doesn't make depression go away, instead other problems arise and are more severe. For a moment maybe smoking can eliminate the problem and the smoker might feel comfortable. Over time smokers will be more addicted because of the nicotine content contained in cigarettes.
Nicotine is a chemical contained in cigarettes that makes a person addicted. This ingredient can increase the release of chemicals in the brain that help regulate one's mood and behavior. This creates a desire to use nicotine again and triggers physical dependence on nicotine to occur quickly and violently. But of course various other factors that cause smoking addiction, especially among adolescents. Social factors with heavy smokers can cause someone to want to try smoking. Beginners usually want to try something they've never done before.
Until now I am not a smoker even though when I was in college I tried to smoke because I followed some friends who were smokers. I tried smoking a few sticks but it didn't get me addicted. After that, I have never smoked again. Incidentally, until now I have many friends who do not smoke. Only a few friends who smoke and even that can be counted on the fingers.
However, I understand that many people around me are addicted to smoking and that can be seen when we gather at coffee shops. Most of them cannot be separated from cigarette smoke until they spend 3 packs every day. Apart from reducing their income for cigarettes, I can see a lot of changes in people who are addicted to smoking. Smoking addiction can damage health and the body usually becomes thin and makes your appetite decrease.
To stop the level of smoking addiction is not too difficult if done seriously. With a strong determination and keep in mind that smoking can harm yourself and others around you. Do regular exercise and eat healthy and nutritious food. Try to avoid excessive stress and get enough rest, hopefully it can reduce smoking addiction.

First I was afraid when I read out you article because you have said that you started smoking but now I am relaxed that you understand that how much it is bad for your health and finally thank God you understand and quit smoking.
Smoking... With smoking comes only one word... addiction!
My husband is a smoker and I can just see how difficult it is for him to stop. It is an addiction that he just cannot get rid of.
We need to talk to our children from an early age and warn them before they get addicted to it.
