RE: The blog is dead! Long live the blog! #Блог мертвий! Хай живе блог!
And still another question, please. ;-))
I re-read your article (very interesting and some kind of nutrition for my thoughts), and I'm studying on the given citation.
If I let DeepL make the translation from Ukrainian to German or to English, I do not get the expression "latrines" of the soul (but "similar places" of the soul). Is this - so my question - a speciality of the choice of the words in Ukrainian or by Viktor Pelevin? As we say in German "ein gewisses Örtchen" ("a certain place") to circumscribe the latrine.
...этого и существуют схожие места души...
ähnlich bedeutet ähnlich, obwohl es für einige Leute genau so ist, wie Sie es übersetzt haben
similar means similar, although for some people it is exactly as you translated
does not translate exactly, the meaning of the word is similar
But not toilets, for sure)
Not toilets?
How do we then get catched to the sewer?
In German, there are two paraphrases that sound similar but mean very different things:
Sie haben recht, Latrinen des Geistes, aber keine Latrine in der Seele
Nein, nicht "in der" Seele, sondern "der" Seele - das bedeutet "für die" Seele.
(Wir brauchen mehr Übersetzungen und Vergleiche?)
