RE: Звільнення з роботи

I have never been able to leave like you when I wanted to or had to. In the law, there is an option to leave by mutual consent, but no company respects and recognizes such a request. On the one hand, the old employer never wants to let his employees go, and the future employer does not want to wait.
And when the notice period in Bulgaria was still traditionally one month, and not like now - 2 or 3, I tried once to leave for two weeks and my employer threatened me with court and lawyers.
Anyway, from my point of view, you were even lucky to get off so easily today, never mind that it took you so long.
17 years is an extremely long time and I understand how difficult it was for you to make this decision - absolutely normal and at the same time, really commendable! The more time goes by, the harder it gets, it's like that with all people. But as I said, congratulations, the first step has been taken, the bad is over, now only forward!

to leave by mutual consent

I wrote a very clever resignation letter. The reason I indicated was the employer's failure to comply with labor legislation (non-payment of wages) 😄. It must have made my dismissal more difficult, although no one pointed it out to me directly. But this wording did not give the management the right to make me work for another 14 days, as provided by law for voluntary dismissal.

I have never been able to leave like you

I am not a conflicted person and it was really difficult for me, but I already got another job and I had nowhere to retreat 🙄.

like now - 2 or 3

This is a lot, almost slavery.

Yes, it really is. A person gets used to it. In addition, it was easy for me to work, because for such a long period I already knew a lot and any new task was one that I had already performed before. I left many unfinished or half-finished projects. But it doesn't matter now.

congratulations, the first step has been taken, the bad is over, now only forward!

Thank you! Now that I've quit, I feel a little better and look forward to the future 😀.

14 days - you are like the Americans. So progressive! 👏
This is real slavery, not almost. I have already given up looking for a job HERE. I don't know what I can grab onto here to stay - whether it's the humiliating notice period, the low wages, the employer's unwillingness to pay full benefits or the sheer volume of work placed on one employee 🤔😅Anyway, that's a different topic.
The future... we all look hopefully there because it's supposed to always be better. And will be! 🙏

Since you have no problems with moving within the European Union, it may be worth looking for a job somewhere in another country. But I understand that I would like to get a job somewhere close to home, and not wander around the world.

Another option is to start your own business. But that's easier said than done. There are people who start their own business without hesitation, and then act according to the situation. And there are people who try to weigh everything and calculate in advance. I belong to the second category and I will probably never become a businessman 😁.

I will probably never become a businessman

It seems that unfortunately, I do too.
I went, of course, in the search process, also through this phase. I signed up for an entrepreneur group on FB, hoping to get some insight, perhaps some enlightenment. To start a business, you have to love something very much, or just love entrepreneurship and risk. I also belong to the second group, and no matter how much I calculate, I'm still missing something, and to be honest, I have no idea what I could be doing in this way, I didn't get any enlightenment.
I kind of blame my parents for that. 😁 I have good examples from the parents of more average classmates who, without thinking too much, simply emigrated a long time ago to some nice western country (or started a business somewhere) and for the moment everyone lives very well, regardless of how much they studied or know something. Simply because western countries provide much more opportunities for everyone. Not like here where hardly anyone can be appreciated no matter what they can do or what they know. Recently, an acquaintance said that because she was not "very giving to men", had a child and is turning 40, she does not see how she will find a job. That sounds scary. 😨
