Well maybe the smell pf petrol (I used to like it when I was a kid - not any more) but chlorine...
Kudos to you for not being intimidated by bats. I remember once in our childhood when a bat came into our room, and all four siblings were in full hyper mode, jumping on and off beds and sofas. To this day, I'm still not very happy to see them.

As for chlorine, of course it was a joke 😀. I had to inhale chlorine several times and it was not very pleasant.
I think it's because the bat was fast asleep 😁
