RE: Весілля у військовий час

Sometimes in situations like war or pandemic, when the world seems to come to a halt, other things which took forever to happen start happening; marriage is one such event. I think it's the uncertainty of future that make people get done with the important decisions/events in their lives.

The headscarf tradtion seems quite interesting. I'm now curious about how a Ukrainian wedding looks like. Weddings in Pakistan are also quite pompous and cost the families a fortune specially the bride's side.

We also have many traditions like doodh pilai (the girls from bride's side offer a glass of milk to groom in exchange for good amount of money), joota chupai (grooms shoes are stolen and hidden and he can only get those back if he hands over money) .. There are many such traditions. It is always fun to watch the arguments between cousins and friends of bride and groom but at the end both parties happily settle down on something.

You have very interesting traditions and somewhat similar to ours. In Ukraine, on the wedding day, the groom must buy a shirt that the bride prepared for him. The bride's friends bring the shirt, while he bargains to pay less.

Then the groom arrives at the bride's house. There he is met by the bride's parents, her friends and even neighbors. Now the groom has to bargain to buy the bride herself.

After the wedding, when the bride and groom leave the temple, the bride scatters sweets on the ground. At this time, children are already waiting and quickly collect everything.

Then, during the celebration, there are also many events, during which people dress up, take part in fun contests, and much more.

Maybe one day I will describe a Ukrainian wedding in more detail, after I visit one where I can take enough photos.

Thank you @weisser-rabe. I wanted to ask, do you enjoy curating? Will you continue to do this in October?

Hi! I will not continue curating. I will write about separately. But for the moment: I'm enjoying and I'm frustrated. And - it takes a lot of time. I see other points of interest at present. May be I will apply any month later again... Who knows...? ;-))
