A soup diet is usually a short-term eating plan designed to help people lose weight quickly. Instead of one official soup diet, there are several soup-based diets. While some only include eating soup during the diet, others also include a limited list of allowable foods. Most of these diets are designed to last only 5-10 days. There are many types of soup diets, and some of the most popular are listed below. Just keep in mind that there is currently no research on the effectiveness of these specific diets. I am referring to permanent weight loss, especially if it is also applied for the purpose of body composition recomposition.

There are many types of soup diets, and some of the most popular are listed below. Just keep in mind that there is currently no research on the effectiveness of these specific diets. I am referring to permanent weight loss, especially if it is also applied for the purpose of body composition recomposition. Broth-based soup diets usually last 7 days. However, some can last up to 10-14 days. During this time, proponents of this broth-based soup diet claim that you can lose up to 4, 5, or 9 kilograms of weight (this does not mean subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, but just weight).
On a broth-based soup diet, cream-based soups are limited because they are higher in calories and fat. Instead, you are encouraged to consume homemade or canned broth-based soups that include vegetables and protein. While some programs recommend consuming only broth-based soups, others may allow small amounts of low-calorie options such as lean proteins, non-starchy vegetables, and low-fat dairy products.
The Chicken Soup Diet is a 7-day weight loss diet that involves eating chicken soup for every meal except breakfast. For your morning meal, you can choose from five low-calorie options that include foods such as skim milk and yogurt, skim cheese, whole grain cereal or bread, and fresh fruit. For the rest of the day, the diet recommends eating frequent small portions of homemade chicken soup throughout the day.
By eating small, frequent portions of soup, the diet claims it will help reduce appetite and promote satiety. The soup itself is low in calories and carbs because it's made with broth, cooked chicken, flavorings like garlic and onion, and lots of non-starchy vegetables, including carrots, turnips, broccoli, and green nuts.

Observational studies have found that people who regularly consume soup tend to have a lower body mass index and are less likely to be obese than those who do not eat soup at all. The reason why soup is associated with lower body weight is unknown. Some research suggests that soup can help increase feelings of fullness. Thus, eating soup regularly can help reduce the number of calories you eat per day. It is important to consider other factors that could explain this association, such as cultural or genetic differences between individuals who regularly eat soup and those who do not. Overall, more rigorous and long-term studies are needed to confirm the potential weight loss benefits of eating soup.
Another thing to note is that soup consumption has not been shown to reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome, a group of conditions that increase the risk of developing heart disease and type 2 diabetes. As for specific soup diets, there is currently no scientific evidence of their effectiveness in weight loss.
Still, since most soup diets result in a significant reduction in calories, following them is likely to help you lose weight.

Losing the pounds in question from a soup diet will be at the expense of total weight, which includes: fat, unnecessary water (partly muscle tissue) and metabolic waste products. And the fewer calories you consume through soup, the more pounds you'll lose. Because the bean soup diet is recommended for transitioning to a plant-based diet (for medical reasons and recommendations), it may have better long-term success than other soup diets.

In addition to rapid weight loss, soup diets can offer additional benefits, including:

  • increased intake of vegetables: vegetables provide essential vitamins and beneficial plant compounds. Furthermore, increased intake is associated with a reduced risk of weight gain and obesity;
  • increased fiber intake: since they are often rich in vegetables and sometimes contain beans, whole grains or fruit, these diets can provide a decent amount of fiber, which can help reduce appetite;
  • increased water intake: these diets can improve water intake throughout the day. In addition to supporting numerous essential functions in the body, research shows that increased water intake can aid in weight loss efforts;
    easy to follow: As with other trendy diets, soup diets usually have strict guidelines that make them easy to follow. Encourage a plant-based diet. Some, like the bean soup diet, can help you transition to a more plant-based way of eating.
  • increased fluid intake: the very fact that the soup is water-based, with this diet you will hydrate your body better, especially if you did not have habits of proper hydration and compliance with water exchange norms before;

Keep in mind, however, that just 1 or 2 weeks of increased vegetable, fiber, and water intake is unlikely to have significant benefits for your long-term weight and health unless following the diet helps you make lasting lifestyle changes.

Thank you for participating. This is a very interesting and informative publication. I really liked it. However, it does not quite meet the requirements of the competition, which is about cooking and where people show the process of preparing their dishes and share recipes. Nevertheless, such detailed and well-illustrated posts are the beauty of this platform 😃

Yes, I agree that I may be off topic, but I wanted to show the soup from a different perspective. I know I don't stand a chance in the competition, but I hope I've been helpful to someone 🤗
