Ribbons, guides and tendrils of the Chayote PlantMy Macro-Photos in BoC |
---|
Greetings friends of BoC. Today I want to share with you some interesting photos that show some adaptation mechanisms that plants frequently use for their growth.
I captured it in the town of La Puerta, Trujillo, Venezuela. In a mountainous area called "Carretera al Llanito", on a slope where there were vegetable crops, it is most likely that the chayote was born because someone carelessly threw seeds.
The Model: Ties, guides and tendrils of the Chayote Plant.
These are the ties or filaments that plants use as guides that proceed to roll up and turn around themselves to form tendrils. These help the plants to secure themselves and to climb or extend along a terrain, thus managing to stay firm against the onslaught of the wind.
This ability of many climbing plants to "move" voluntarily in search of support arises from the transformations that occur in their leaves and stems, which begin to generate these sensitive filaments that, upon finding a support point, attach to it.
Procedure
I worked with my cell phone and its A7S camera, in macro mode and physical zooms to capture the bows as close as possible. I did the simple editing with the "PHOTOS" app from Microsoft.
