Grass-carrying Wasp Sucking Nectar
Wasps are one of the true pollinating insects that help pollinate flowers. This is a grass-carrying wasp in the genus Isodontia (family Sphecidae) that I captured in the local forest. Why is it called a grass-carrying wasp? Because it builds a nest lined with grass or straw in hollow wooden cavities. It is black, some of these wasps have an orange abdomen base (possibly the difference between males and females), and transparent violet wings.
