Contest: My first steps in STEEMIT | The Steem Voyage by @nabanitad.steemCreated with Sketch.

Hey, this is Nabanita. I am on Steemit for almost one month. It has been a great journey so far and I am positive about making the journey everlasting.

I had started trading crypto assets back in April 2021. I invested in coins like Ethereum Classic, Bitcoin diamond, Shiba Inu, MATIC etc. Back last month, I had a conversation with one of my acquaintances whom I knew from Facebook about my investments. In between the conversation he told me about this social media platform where we can earn by posting quality original content. It’s like doing the same thing that we do in Facebook and Reddit but it’s not owned by any centralised authority and we can earn and socialise by blogging.

The idea really amazed me. I previously heard about DTube but had no idea there are blockchain-based social media platforms until then. I am a CS graduate and We have been taught about blockchain technology back at college.
As soon as I heard of Steemit, I joined it immediately through Steemit.com and posted my introduction post within 6 hours after joining. My first post wasn’t an intro post as I didn’t know about the newcomer formalities, then he told me to introduce myself in the newcomers’ community. I didn’t read about others’ post from the group and compiled the post in my own way. I was surprised when it was well-received by members especially country representatives. I didn’t know about the rating system, if I knew it then I could have made some improvements.

I spent the next two days surfing around Steemit seeing people making big over here and my posts not getting any response I was already giving it a thought to end my Steem expedition. But for me, the turning point has been @cryptokannon’s post series to “Guide newcomers”. From there, I got to know about other achievement tasks and the minnow support program.

I learned about the rating system and new users will be curated by admins and curation accounts for their achievement tasks.
I invested time and effort to research the topics and prepare my tasks.
My first priority was to complete at least 4 achievements before the first month so that I can be accepted into the minnow support program in Steemit nursery.
Meanwhile, I kept posting every day. My SP was low at 15, so my resource credit was really to even reply back comments and curate posts that I found good.

I was losing patience, I accepted that my achievement posts will not be curated and my Steemit journey might end soon. Even, I stopped visiting the site frequently because I didn’t even have the RC and upvote power to keep on. I still took part in some contests here a there in organic groups and fortunately won a few. With that steem, I powered up to 16 but it was still not enough.

I kept asking curators, moderators, greeters and admins what improvements can I make to receive support. TBH, some responded, some didn’t but those who guided really helped especially, @ghostfacer99 who was humble enough to accept me to the minnow support program.
I learned one thing this far in my journey with Steemit that I have to keep trying to grow organically.
Quality, Originality and Presentation will win us rewards here. These three words and their application matter the most.
I think of Steem as mining cryptocurrency. In other blockchain systems, we get rewarded for verifying transactions forex. Bitcoin mining. Here in Steem, we get rewarded for contributing original quality content.
For crypto mining, we have to invest money.
For Steem, we have to invest time and effort.
Before coming to Steemit, I didn’t know about the Steem cryptocurrency and SBD. After coming to Steemit, I found Steem listed in Binance, its value and market potential to grow in future.

Before coming to Steemit, I didn’t know that spending time socialising and sharing my own story, creativity could be this fruitful.
Steem has been successful in igniting my creative side again. I started doing photography and digital vector art after a gap of 1.5 years.
It is a social media that doesn’t keep track of my sensitive personal data to trade and earn profit and turn me into the product rather paying me for contribution, Steem has a solid impact to make. This is indeed the future of social media and blogging.

So far, I have been able to understand the ecosystem here, made a strategy to keep myself motivated.

I have to keep posting regularly.
Complete all the achievement tasks.
as well as curate quality posts with upvotes and comments.

Participate in different contests.

Make good friends with people who are already established here for guidance.

When comes to admiring a Steemian, I would be glad to mention @papi.mati. I truly love his approach of telling his stories in a different way which is really enjoyable to read and look at.

I learned few things from him like how should I tell stories on this platform. What can be the unique selling point of our story etc.

His pattern of storytelling has inspired me a lot. His quality of blogs and presentation is concise and entertaining.
There are other photographers and digital arts I would have liked to mention who are really inspiring too.

I am looking forward to reaching at least 500 SP in the first 6 months here.
My goal is to reach 500 SP, I want to contribute original content and tell my stories through Steemit and increase my reputation, voting power. I want to turn Steemit into a passive income source and a place to socialise in future. The platform isn’t toxic and judgemental like others which really motivates me to keep doing it.
For this same reason, I have told my friends and invited them to join this platform instead of wasting time on others.

In conclusion, Steem crypto, SBD and Tron have a long way to go. Steemit as a platform is generating real value for these assets and it will be the next big thing for sure. I don’t want to be a spectator of its journey but a part of it.

I would like to invite @bengalfoodie5, @dhaki.gayen, @roxycool1990 to participate in this competition.

Thanks for reading this far. I appreciate your engagement.
If you are curious to know me you can check my profile as well as visit my Achievement 1 – Introduction post.

Signing out and keep steeming!
