Come and tell us about your hobby @chiomy
Hello, steemians...I'm happy to be a part of this wonderful contest organized by @bright-obias. It gives us an opportunity to know ourselves better.
My hobby
My favourite hobby is reading. I grew up alone as a young child, my mum usually didn't like me playing around with other kids in the neighborhood so she bought me a lot of books to keep me busy and I developed the habit of reading. I read a lot of lot of things, from motivational articles to fictions, sci-fi, comedy..you name it.
I once read a novel that could pass for a mini-encyclopedia in 3days. I was 16years old and the story was really captivating so I would stay up all night reading, even during the day...I could abandon everything just to read. One beautiful thing about reading is that no knowledge gained is a waste. Even if you think it's not valuable to you at that point, it may come in handy in a few years later. Sometime ago, I had an issue to solve and I used the knowledge I had acquired from reading a book a long time ago to solve it.
How do I manage to like reading
There's a quote which says "avid readers are leaders" ...hence I'm passionate about reading. I'm usually involved in one leadership position or the other and reading helps me to lead effective because I'm always knowledgeable about what to do. More so, there are a whole lot of amazing authors in Nigeria and diaspora that makes reading beautiful.

What's the imperative aspect of my hobby
The imperative aspect of my hobby is that it keeps me abreast with the happenings in the world and helps me speak as a wise person. I do not speak as a layman because I'm well read. More so, reading enhances my vocabulary, I learn new words and how to make better sentences in course of reading. It helps my writing skill and also helps me learn how to interact with people, I learn good communication skills from the conversations portrayed by the authors.
How do I plan on creating a landmark using my hobby
I plan on doing this by sensitization... Encouraging people to read. And also, I hope that when I'm successful someday, I can work hand in hand with the government to repair and refurbish the long dilapidated libraries so people can have access to good materials and more so, create a working e-library where people who do not have access to the internet can go and make researches and also study.
It's a beautiful thing to read and it gives me so much joy.
Thank you for reading.
