SEC-S14/W2 - My favorite pet

Hey Steemian friends!

Until I met this furry rascal, I thought I’m a dog lover. I never wanted this companionship but he is definitely someone from the past lives. Allow me to share with you the unexpected twists in my life which connected to this mischievous ball of fur.

My experience with pets began with a dog. As my family constantly relocated, we found ourselves the only occupants of my home. We had a strong bond but due to career commitments, I eventually had to move, leaving our beloved dog with our neighbors. Tragically, I received a call informing my dog met with an accident and died on the road. The pain ran deep, and on one of the darkest days, I found myself digging a final resting place for my loyal friend. At that moment, I thought not to have any pets unless I could fully commit.

Fast forward to the present, and here I am, living in a cozy upstairs rental with my wife. We have a limited space and my wife's aversion to animals led us to never consider having a pet. Then one day when we got to our home, we saw these 03 adorable kittens on the ground floor. They were fun to watch. They soon grew into energetic little explorers, climbing the stairs to visit our home. First, my wife welcomed them for their cuteness, yet she was a little hesitant to touch them. The next thing we knew was that they became a source of our joy, and we even shared some milk with them.

Then I saw this special hyperactive little guy. He was caring for his brothers bathing them by licking and then fighting them whenever he felt to. His intelligence was above average to the other two and very active in his senses. I began to give extra attention to this one.

After about a month, he refused to leave my side and decided to forget his brothers who were on the ground floor. This guy began to follow me anywhere I go and keep an eye on me every time. If I work, he stays with me at my table. If I sleep, he comes to the bed and sleeps alone side with me. If I go to the garden to pluck some vegetables, he climbs the tree with me. He basically began part of my daily routine even without notice. Every morning he is the first one to greet me with kisses and cuddles. Unknowingly this rascal got a permanent spot in my heart.

As time passed, he matured into a full grown cat now, sometimes he goes out for night hunts and look for a partner. The best part of this story is, that I experienced a complete turnaround in my perspective, finding myself concerned when he wasn't home for meal times. What a turnaround! They really can change us.

There are three kittens and two dogs in our house, the mischievous one is the chosen one, my favorite. He might technically belong to the neighbors downstairs, but he made it clear that I am his pet human.

I never tried to keep him in the house but he got room for himself without our permission 😊 He loves boxes, so I gave him a few boxes to sleep wherever he feels. He never wanted to be in one place. As I said where ever I go he follows the same.

About his care, my wife always wants to keep him clean by giving him a bath but he hates water. We have very hard battles when we give a bath to the fella. And no matter how much we try, he'll have a post bath self cleaning (licking himself) ritual.

His food is the most important to him. When he was a kitten we gave him milk, then rice and some meat or fish. Then he falls love with raw small fish but we had to clean our kitchen all the time with that habit then we moved to dog foods. But he still loves the fish.
