"SEC-S14/W4 - Sustainable Animal Productivity and Environmental Footprint Towards Global Food Security."
Thanks to all team members of Steem of Animals for giving me opportunity to participate in such an interesting global topic of discussion. Before I start my presentation I would like to invite three of my friends to participate in the engagement challenge. @viajarparasanar @yakspeace @aprendeconkevin
Our treatment of animals contributes to global health and environment threats like disease outbreak and climate change related fires and floods and then these global health and environment threats are impacting human and non-human animals. So we need to consider the link between human nonhuman animals and environment not only for the sake of us and fellow human but also for the other fellow animals.
It's certainly clear that animals and their welfare have been overlooked in sustainable development policy for the last fifty years. It makes no mention of animal welfare and targets related to preserving wildlife habitat and biodiversity which are really important for both for sustainable development and safeguarding animal welfare and intrinsic value of individual animals.
The way we treat animals directly impacts our progress in sustainable development. The impact of the industrial livestock industries which are known to cause high amount of suffering for the animal that are involved but the industrial form of agriculture like this also enables high amount of animal protein consumption and production particularly in reach countries and among reach consumers fueling adverse health impact ranging from antimicrobial resistance to rising risk of infectious diseases as well as in the case of red and process meats risk of non communicable disease like diabetes, heart disease ,and certain types of cancer.
Industrial animal agriculture is also a significant contributor of many of the world's most environment challenges. The livestock industries known to be responsible for 15 % of the global greenhouse gas. It is also a key driver to deforestation. Land use changes air and water pollution as well as biodiversity decreases.
So all these issues impact on our ability to achieve sustainable development. Sustainable developments matter to animals just like us. Animals are stakeholders of sustainable development and the sustainable development challenges we face are not only harming many humans currently but also leading to large amounts of animal suffering or dying as a result of disease outbreak like bird flu. Extreme whether like storm drought heat waves flooding obviously animals are also affected by the action we take to migrate or adapt to sustainable development challenges for instance if we shift from beef to chicken for climate or health reason actually harm many more animals because many more animals required for these same amount of food and intensive housing condition in which poultry tend to be kept.
We have many critical issues like zoonosis. We have all seen what happened in the pandemic and how it can affect our lives and we are still learning about the origin and the consequences.
The natural lives of animals come after so many centuries of the natural selection and that makes animals the way they are and not the way we want to keep them in different ways.
We have a broken and fragile food system and a fair and healthy commensurate food system necessitates resilience which we don't have at the moment. Global south north balance of food and production is essentially a colonial heritage.
Plant based food are safe and more equitable suggest gender parity and strengthen rural economics. We will be revitalizing rural economics and we will create more jobs and equitable food distribution around the planet.
The treatment of animals has a major impact on global health and the environment. Ignoring animal welfare in sustainability policies over the last 50 years has led to ecosystem imbalances and global health risks. Although the livestock industry supports the consumption of animal protein, it causes animal suffering, greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation. It is also associated with human health risks such as antimicrobial resistance and non-communicable diseases.
Transitioning to a plant-based diet can help overcome these challenges and promote a fair and sustainable food system. Hello, good luck in this contest!

Such an important aspect that you mention in your publication is that there must be good treatment for different types of animals, whether domestic or for the production of food such as meat, milk or eggs.
Ample space must be guaranteed for their reproduction, feeding and development, without altering the stability of the environment as much as possible.
That is why we must encourage and invest in livestock production in the regions available and closest to the cities to avoid the long-term travel of livestock transport.

Es muy cierto la población se ha incrementado de tal manera que la alimentación no es justa ni balanceada por el alto consumo de la humanidad lo que hace recurrir a todos a las formas más rápidas de poder conseguir alimento olvidando así el medio ambiente.
En la pandemia todos vimos como nuestro ambiente se recuperó un poco a pesar de que estábamos enfermos con el virus nuestro ambiente se recuperaba de tanta contaminación y de tanta agresividad que la humanidad le otorga día a día.
Entonces no nos queda más que reflexionar meditar y actuar a favor de nuestros animales y nuestro ambiente.

Yes, Zoonosis was a critical issue that we have faced in the past. I agree with you that now a days there is very broken and fragile food security we have but we can work upon that by implementing the essential techniques.

Animals are super important for global health, and how we treat them matters a lot. Neglecting their health can affect the environment and even us humans, especially with diseases that can pass from animals to humans. So, it's crucial to take care of our animals since they give us so much in return.

Así es amigo lamentablemente Y aunque la ganadería y la agricultura son actividades sumamente importante para la población y para garantizar alimentación también son causantes de grandes problemas a nuestro planeta.
Muchas de estas actividades en las cuales los animales están presentes generan otros problemas más serios como la insalubridad la contaminación y la afectación de los recursos naturales.
Se debe trabajar para lograr que haya un equilibrio entre ambas actividades, y bien Es cierto que debemos realizar actividades de ganadería y agricultura para alimentarnos También es importante que tengamos la conciencia ambiental para evitar acciones que vayan en contra de la naturaleza.

Animal welfare and sustainablety for the normal ecosystem is too much important. You say that in previous 50 years the animals welfare origination has done a great job. That may be true, but still we need to do more work.
One point is very clear, if we disturb nature, nature will disturb us.

Animals greatly contribute to generak global health in every aspect and the way we treat them too is a contributing factor. There are many farmers who neglect the health of animals which inturn affect the environment and humans as some of these health conditions are zoonosis as you've mentioned. Reason why we need to pay attention to our animals as they give us what we want.
Industrial activities are a big challenge to the environment which needs attention too. This is the most plaguing environment challenge source. We need to be healthy and safe so let's curb our industrial activities too.
