Wishing you all a very good day and healthy life ahead. By the grace of Almighty, I am well today and looking forward to showing you what I have just prepared for you. In this case, I am joining “My Art, My Creativity” contest which has been organized by @shahariar1 in Steem of Animals for its week 18 contest. So, for this entry I was going to choose one of the most gorgeous animals that exist; a Lion. Lions giftedly embody strength, courage and royalty and these elements were envisaged in my artwork. It was a fun task, and I hope you all get to see it as much as I had fun making it!
For this drawing, I used simple tools:
✅A white paper,
✅a pencil,
✅an eraser,
✅and black ball pen.
I drew the lion solely in pencil, therefore no color was incorporated.
The first step I took was to roughly draw the major outline of the lion’s frame. This is where I first sketched the form in order to establish the correct proportions for the final drawing. This was done broadly and to general contours or rough shapes which made up the figure of the body.
After I marked out the body shape I shifted to drawing the legs. The powerful legs of this lion are clearly defined, and I took my time to draw them in as powerful as possible. After that, I extended the tail which needed to be placed in a proper way, so that the drawing would depict movement and sophistication.
Thirdly, I drew on the contour of the lion face and head. I first formed the mouth shape and then added more and more details into the head form. During this part of the work, I realized as the piece evolved that the character of the lion commenced to manifest.
Here are some of my favorite parts of the lion that you should not miss; Lion’s mane on the head part gives it the royal, majestic appearance. Then I used my time to put the hair around its face to flow to give the mane some volume and texture to make the mane pop.
Once in a while, after the mane, I connected the eyes of a lion, its ears, and the nose part. Every detail depicted about it was done with precision to create the lion’s face. Eyes in particular gave some character to the drawing, and where placing all facial elements, I made sure that they were of appropriate size and in right places.
After the face and the mane I returned to the rest of the body to smooth the legs, the tail and so on. Now body part of the lion were figured out and the over shape of the figure was constructed. Lastly, I took a black ball pen, which has a thicker line and went over all the drawn outline making it much darker for better definition. This step also played a role in highlighting the lion’s shape and gave the sketch more mature look.
with the last strokes made my drawing is done the lion with it muscular and powerful build, and the magnificent mane now stands on the paper without a doubt.
