During my primary school days i was taught and learnt that environment can be said to be a place or surrounding that helps to secure or keep us safe from dangers. Or we can say that environment is the surroundings around us where we live.
But according to this social studies lesson, i have learnt and understood that an environment is the totality of our surroundings, that encourage or discourage the development or survival of man.

There is a word which i picked from this explanation of environment by @udyliciouz, which i also think that it have defined all about environment. And these word are; totality: when we talk about this totality we are talking about or trying to say everything or all the things that makes up the environment. And we also said that it discouraged and also encourage the development or survival of man, yes of course most times the kind of environment we live also discourage us from doing things that will always help us in life, for instance if you wants to open a business area around your environment and you notice things that are not good like, you noticed that your environment are not safe or problems of bad roads in your environment, it can easily discourages you from opening a good business area in that your environment.

And also the kind of environment we live also encourages us, yes of course there are some environment that you live that can easily encourage you to set your goals and achieve it for instance; if you live at an open place where you can easily see everybody at all time, you can easily decide to open a business area in your environment and also at that moment you will make a lot of money from it without any problems.

Physical surroundings refers to things around us, things we can touch, felt and see with our natural eyes. This is made up of natural or man-made objects.
Man-made objects includes: house, cars, and so on. While natural things includes; trees, lands, lakes and so on. Which always help us at all times we need them.

Weather: weather can be defined or seen as an atmospheric condition of a place at a particular period of time. As we all know that the weather changes regularly, it changes to sunny, foggy or windy. And also it changes as a result of changes in the following elements which also known as the element weather, which includes rainfall, temperature, Wind, and cloud and so on.

Climate: Climate is the average weather condition of a place over a considerably period of about 35years.

Rivers: Rivers can be defined as wide natural streams flowing between banks into lakes, wider stream or into sea.
We have different kinds of rivers in Nigeria which are: Osun, Cross river, Ogun, Sokoto and so on.

Ocean: this is a great masses of salt water that cover most of the soil surface. Ocean forms 3/4 Of the earth's surface, while the land covers the rest, example is Atlantic Ocean.

Lakes: Lakes are large water bodies that are surrounded by land. Examples of lakes in Nigeria are: Agulu lake, Oguta lake, Lake chad, and kainji lake.
