Regardless of the suffering my people still rejoice over its independence \the jollof rice

The hardship that our people are passing through is nothing compared to this independence that we are celebrating today our nation has gained independence for 64 years now but yet we still live like a common slave in our nation we have freedom of movement and we have the right to do what you want but it's never been taken into consideration by our leaders

During the election, we voted under the hot sun and made a queue just to select a leader, but the opposite result was the one that would emerge as the winner against the people's will. And the judiciary because they have been bought with money will gladly announce the leader

My husband brought pork meat yesterday and said that since tomorrow is independence we should at least rejoice even if we don't have all the resources that we need we have life and that is what matters as long as we are alive there is Hope that one day things will get better and I smile

In the morning I hurried up and made jollof rice just as he demanded that I should cook it to his taste as usual because he trusted my cooking that his friends would be coming to rejoice over this independence

I made a simple jollof rice but it's so sweet and delicious first I boiled the rice then kept it aside, I cut carrots and green beans and onions of course I pounded my yellow pepper and I keep it aside

I place the empty pot on fire are add a little groundnut oil to the pot then I put the pounded ingredients with two cubes of Maggie I allow it to hot then I add the carrot green beans and onions into the ingredients and allow it to stay for 30 seconds depending on the fire level then I add some pieces of meat

I remove the carrot green beans and onions alongside the meat into an empty plate I keep it aside then I add water and allow it to boil with added Maggie

Then I put the rice into the pot and allow it to boil until the water becomes tried After it dries up I add the green beans meat and onions so that it will give me the perfect look and taste that I am looking for, and of course, the food will give me a green color and yellow at the end of the day

Many people who taste this food today are amazed because it's a different system that I use in cooking this particular jollof rice indeed we have many ways of cooking it depends on how you start yours

After eating and bathing in the evening we went to our village square to dance still celebrating our independence but yet in bondage I feel as if we the citizens of Nigeria are people who are not concerned about our suffering even though it's written all over our faces but we always find ways to smile

Many people come from different angles of this area to dance in this particular village square where we hold our festival activities it's called apata in the heart of the development area of Nasarawa EGGON

We are EGGON people and this is our culture we dance and sing to the tone that is playing and you can think off your worries over this dance because it will help your heart to smile and you will become healthy again by the beating of the drum

I was amazed when I saw this little young boy playing the fluid his father was the one playing the fluid in our festival activities and his younger son had inherited the fluid from his father and also danced to the fluid as he played it just in tender age plenty people were spreading money on the young boy because they were shocked at his performance

This dance is also a way of keeping your physical body feet is an exercise that brings out the best product in you

My prayer for our nation is that God should give us a leader who will help us and liberate us from the hands of corrupt leaders, we have suffered a long time but still, we don't know where is taking us, if god did not intervene many people will run away from this nation in search of greener pastures

Back then, in primary school, our teachers said that we were the leaders of tomorrow, but our tomorrow has never come, and we are still here in our yesterday even though we have children who have children.
