Introduction

Welcome to my blog once again. Today I will be participating in the weekly drawing contest. And this week's own is fun. Guess what? We are asked to draw our favourite pet. Isn't that amazing?
Since the choice of what to draw is ours. I have choose to draw a cat, my favourite pet. Have a look at myself and my favourite pet below.

Describe your favourite pet

The name of my pet is perky. Perky is a female cat. She is so loving and calm. Perky does not like to sleep or lie down in dirty places. She does not eat from dirty plates no matter how hungry she may be.
When a stranger comes close to her and touched her, she will use her tongue to wipe off every dirt that the stranger must have left on her body.
When ever, I return home, perky will come around to welcome my arrival. She will claim my body, hand and even sit on my laps to make a welcoming sound. Perky does not steal instead she will fight the dog when the dog tries to steal meat or fish from the kitchen if he has his way to the kitchen. Unlike the dog, that is mostly on cage, perky moves around the house freely, infact she has the freedom to enter any rooms she feels like entering.

What name do you give to your pet?

Her name is perky.

What does it eat, tell us about the lifestyle of your pet

Perky eat everything. She eat the family's meal. But when perky was still a kitten, she used to drink milk, and eat grated coconut.
Like I mentioned earlier, perky is a clean and lovely pet. She hate dirty environment and would not lie down or sleep in dirty places. She hate strangers touching her unless the visitors that visit often.
She is quite and calm. She like to stay where people are. If we are watching television at night, perky will definitely be there in the palour with us, robbing herself on me especially.
She doesn't eat food that has stay for days or spoilt.

Are they important to man, what significant role do they play in humans life? Tell us the importance of your pet to you.

Cats are important to man. They serves as pets and also can keep us company. Cat plays an important role in chasing away rats of any kind in the house. Once a rat hears the cat mews, they will run for their dear life and will never come close to that house again. You see with cat as pet, people who are disturbed by rat will not spend thier money in buying rat poison.

If they are dangerous to man tell us their dangerous part

Cat have dangerous parts. The well known dangerous part about rat is the sharp nails and teeth.
They rarely use it on their owners but can use it on strangers when they notice that their life is in danger.

It is advisable not to hold the rat by its tails because it will use it sharp nails and teeth on whoever does that.
It is not also good to hold it by the neck, it will use it dangerous nails on such a person.

If you want to hold the rat without being harm by it, hold the skin of the head not the neck, legs, tail and any part of the body.
But if you are playing with the cat, you can hold any part of the body.

Do you encourage us to have it at home? If we should have how can we care for it the way you do?

To thoes who would like to keep cat as a pets, I would encourage them to do so because its lovely to have it around.
Some people hate cat because of some stories attached to it or what they watch in some Nigerian movies about cats.

To care for your cat, you need to feed him or her with milk when they are kittens. But when they grow up, feed them with the food you eat and don't forget cat likes egg, meat and fish too.

Steps in drawing the cat

Step1

I gathered all the materials needed for the drawing.
The materials were:

• Plain A4 paper
• Pencil
• Eraser
• Sharpener
• Crayons

Step 2

After gathering all the materials needed, I started by drawing it from the ear down to the face, put the eye and nose with one hand as you can see in the picture below.

Step 3

In this step, I drew the upper body down to the tail and put the second hand.

Step 4

As you can see here, the drawing is about to be completed. This is the stage where I drew the two legs and the toes.

Step 5

At this step, the drawing is completed but what is lacking is the shading. Which I made used of three different colours of crayons.
Dark brown
Light brown
Black

Final step

Here is the outcome of the shading.
